Skip the Listerine, its too drying on your gums at this time.
Use warm salt water rinses.
Stop worrying about bad breath, once everything heals it will all be fine.

Once you've gotten rid of the decayed tooth, the main offender should be gone. If you're still dealing with bad breath issues, the Listerine may actually be the cause!
Mouthwashes with alcohol should be avoided as they destroy the bacterial balance in the mouth. In other words, we have beneficial bacteria and "bad" bacteria in our bodies. When we use products which kill off everything, the first to arrive back on the scene is the bad bacteria, which now have an opportunity to flourish.
Besides changing mouthwashes, using a tongue scraper every morning before brushing will help get rid of bacteria/toxins which cause bad breath.
Be sure to keep up your dental care and follow your dentists instructions. I hope you'll be feeling better in no time!

Yes, you will have an altered taste and smell in your mouth until the extraction site heals over. That will take a few months.
Be careful rinsing your mouth out with Listerine. It is important for you not to rinse out the clot that needs to form within your tooth socket. If this happens you will likely get Dry Socket. You will know if you have Dry Socket if after 3-4 days following the extraction you develop an excruciating pain in the area of the extraction site.

well if the decayed tooth has been removed -the halitosis(bad breath )should be gone--it may take a couple of days for the residual decay/infection -to get out of your system ,when i had a decayed tooth removed -i stocked up on really soft food -and special nourishing drinks like .. for example ensure -and learned quickly -due to pain , use the other side of the mouth -plus you dont want to get infected in that area -

There may be some odor until the skin that is stitched is completely closed. It depends how long it takes you to heal, but I would think that in a couple of weeks, you should be fine.
I don't know you but your friends may say you should have been using Listerine all along!! :) j/k

the final think of you're able to do is positioned cotton (dry) on the bleeding gums and shop somewhat stress on it, no longer plenty. this might stop the bleeding somewhat directly. optimistically via the time you p.c.. up your son from college the bleeding could have stopped if no longer you are able to choose between speaking somewhat humorous or take the cotton out. This has continuously worked for me. i'm so sorry you're dealing with this. Your tooth might desire to have been linked to the bone inflicting the situation and the laying off of things of bone or tooth. this is going to heal swifter than you think of. it is frightening of direction. i'm particular that the stitches are the variety that dissolve on your mouth and don't require you to flow decrease back to have them bumped off. quickly your vast mind-blowing smile would be decrease back. get exhilaration from your holiday!
