this is my tongue-tie:
http://img356.imageshack.us/img356/5391/tonguetiedn7.jpg

I didn't know what this was until my sister started nursing school...I just knew my tongue was different from everyone elses.

But anyway, so I'm 20 years old and I want the surgery. I want to be able to stick my tongue out...to lick an ice cream cone...to sing a higher range because I'd be able to lift my tongue on higher notes.

What kind of doctor would perform this surgery? Is it a dentist? Do you think insurance might cover it, health insurance or dental insurance? How much would it cost (my tongue-tie is the most extreme of types of cases)? And do you think I'd have to have speech therapy in learning to keep my tongue down while I talk so it doesn't all hang out? They've never had to use a tongue depressor on me lol...

I've looked on websites and I know the technical information like what they do...but I'd really like to hear some personal experiences.

There seems to be a crack on the side of 2 teeth where the brackets used to be. Should I go to my dentist or back to orthodontist?

after a week of trying with the dentist on what my insurance would cover on his procedure, I cancelled day of after they told me they would know by then. I told them can't do procedure if I don't know how much I am responsible for. Seems like I am being scammed. What do I do? They are charging me an extra $300!

Also, do braces or spacers hurt more? And do you think orange and hot pink are good colors for braces? I will accept any other advice having to do with braces.

My boyfriend has a tiny piece of tooth still stuck in his gum from 2 years ago when he got a hole in his tooth and then broke the tooth and ripped what he thought was the rest of it out. Can this cause an infection which will lead to death? Again, it's been there for 2 years and it doesn't hurt him at all. He doesn't have a fever or any signs of infection. It does bleed often though.

I would even be willing to be an example case for a dental office! I have very good insurance, just not enough to cover all of my work that needs to be done.

this has been happening everyday all day for the past month when I spit in the shower or sink my saliva has blood in it and It's always light red. If I keep spitting it clears up but if I spit a half hour later it comes back. During the day I could taste the blood in my mouth. I didn't get any teeth taken out nor I have any cuts in my mouth or anything like that. The only thing I could think of is when I brush my teeth with a soft toothbrush my gums will bleed a little bit but it only bleeds on one side.

Not that its the first thing i'd worry about, but it sure would suck if you got a cavity or something and there was no dentist around. What could you use that was on the island to keep them clean as a natural remmedy?

I have an appointment with a dentist at 6:30 tonight, in 3 hours for upper jaw wisdom tooth removal.

My upper jaw wisdom teeth came out quite recently (half of them are out) and they're not causing any problems except:

as they're growing they're pushing my two front teeth on top of each other which has already caused caries (because the part of my gum between my front teeth frequently bleeds because they're so close together) and well it doesnt look nice having one tooth on top of the other. It's not severe yet so I've been advised by a dentist to get my wisdom teeth removed and give the front teeth time to see if they move back and spread out like they were before.

Also, my dentist hasn't done an X-Ray of my teeth before removal. Should he?

But, on the other hand, I have been told not to remove wisdom teeth if they're perfectly healthy. Other people tell me it's best to get braces for my front teeth but not touch my wisdom teeth.

Can anyone advise what to do?

I got off my braces and my teeth were straight. I wore my retainers like I was supposed to for about six months. Then I stopped wearing them, and its been a few months and I feel as if my front teeth are starting to JUT OUT a little bit. I decided to put my retainers on once again, and am wondering if it is already too late. The retainers are really tight, and when I put it on, a little bit chipped off of the top one, but barely. Will my teeth go back to the way they were when I got my braces off again? Is a little chip in the retainer a big deal?

My dentist tells me that I need to wear it or else my teeth will shift. Well what about after three years when I don't have to wear it? Is it just for them to make an extra buck or two?

I lost my retainers 3 months ago and one of them was snapped in half partially and my teeth are moving quite a bit. I havent gone to the ortho ever since cause im afraid of him and his nagging.im always worrying about the teeth but the other thing is my dad. my dad assumes i still have my retainers but i dont and its been 3 months or so. im just worried at the fact that if i go there to the ortho he might tell my dad or itll cost him another couple grand to get braces again i wanna not go because i want to save up money my self to get new retainers without my dad knowing any of this. Ok so this may be weird. I had a cavity filled yesterday and it feels strange. It feels like the filling stuff ran down and dried on the side of the tooth. It also feels like that this tooth and the one next to it were glued together. I went to floss this morning and i couldn't even get the floss down the tooth and when i did and was finished some string was stuck and it like took me forever to get it out. Is this possible or am i just being weird??

I'm 19 years old and have to get my wisdom teeth out. They all will need stiches, three are poking out slightly and one in completly impacted. My dad got his out, the two tops pulled he was fine then my best friend just got hers done today and is feeling horrible. She was knocked out IV and everything. The way I see it I'm going to be numb anyway and I'm fine with needles. I could really care less about vibrations, pushing, sounds and other sensations as long as I can't feel the pain of them comming out. Plus it will be half the cost of going to have an oral surgen do it. I trust my dentist and he's really good. He's not giving me any anethesia just numbing me up and giving me some good pain meds. I would be in pain afterwards if I went to a surgen anyways. Does anyone have experience in doing this in the dentists office? Or any dentist willing to give some advice? You think they could numb me again before I left so it would last longer or is too much novacane bad for you?

I brush my teeth after every meal and never had a cavity. However, my coffee addiction seems to be staining my teeth a little.
