I have braces and I wondered if I could eat anything, like calcium or vitamins to help my teeth move faster?

there's nothing you can do. the reason you teeth can move is because of the pressure with the archwires makes the bone around the teeth to soften up so the teeth can shift. Don't chew gum! it can get suck up under your back metal bands and start to decay your teeth. since it's up underneath your bands you won't be able to see it until your braces come off and by then it's too late.

Your 9 year old sounds just like my 8-1/2 year old! Here are some things that have helped us: 1. Lay out clothes and get backpack ready the night before. 2. Follow the same routine each morning - e.g. use the bathroom, get dressed, eat breakfast, brush teeth, put shoes on, grab jacket and backpack, get in the car. We did use a checklist for a while, but don't seem to need it anymore. 3. Use a kitchen timer to keep her on track - e.g. give her one or two tasks, tell her how much time she has to complete them, and set the timer. When she's done, congratulate her and move on to the next task. Be a bit generous with the time you give, particularly at first. Good luck!

Chewing gum. I had braces as an adult and my orthodontist tells the adults it is ok to chew gum as it will help move the teeth. But he tells the kids and teenagers to stay away from gum because they have a tendency to chew huge wads of sugary gum that stick and get caught in the braces. So, if you can chew gum responsibly then go ahead and chew a stick of sugarless gum.
