Hi. If you want to go to the orthodontist to get braces or whatnot, how do the payments work? Is it run through your credit history, like a loan? is there interest charged? Just wondering how it usually works. thanks!

I'm sure it can vary among orthodontists but I'll tell you my experience. The orthodontist tells you how much the braces will cost if you pay all up front. That price is less than if you make payments. If you make payments, then you provide a downpayment. In my case it was $750. Then I paid $75 every time I had an adjustment. until I had paid the agreed upon price. There was not credit history check in my case.

after the cost of the braces are figured, most ortho's will put you on a payment plan where you pay a specified amount each time you go in or every month.
