I have heard if your tooth still hurts when you have it done that it is still alive and that it will hurt

I have had 3 root canals...while the first 2 did not hurt because the root was frozen before they did the work...the third root canal ( a lower molar) was excrusiatingly painfull..this was due to the fact that the lower teeth and jaw are much harder to freeze....it took 5 needles and was still not frozen enough so the dentist had to drill a hole in my tooth and tap the nerve with the needle directly...I have never been in more pain in my life!! and ive given birth twice!

I agree with one of the previous answers. It is harder to anesthetize some of the different parts of the lower jaw. Just make sure you have enough of the injection before they get too far along.
