Sounds like you may need braces. I would recommend having your teeth slenderized, but they will just move back together. You need to make sure you get something done so that you are able to floss. You don't want to end up with gum disease or perio problems. That can be expensive to fix. So you might as well go the braces route.

Floss comes in a variety of thicknesses. There is regular floss, fine and extra fine floss. As well there is waxed floss which helps in tight spots and keeps the floss from shredding, but then puts a fine wax coating on your tooth that then makes it easier for bacteria to stick back onto your tooth. Also there is a floss called Glide (at least there is in Canada) that slides through even the tightest of contacts.

Some teeth have tighter contacts than others. In these cases we use interdental cleaning aids. Your dentist or hygienist can better advise you on the cleaining aid you would require depending on the contact and the embrasures(space under the contact). Flossing technique is also just as important. Without the correct technique you will constantly be cutting and injuring your gums and doing more harm than good.
Good Luck

Get Glide floss. This is what my family uses now [in the US]and it's great for going between tight contacts. Be sure to floss 1x each day OK?

If you are not in the habit of flossing you could have calculus (tartar) on the teeth preventing floss access. When did you last visit a hygienist for a scale & polish?

maybe try waxed floss, if you haven't all ready. Otherwise, maybe your dentist can help you out. Flossing is important.
