There's a condition called "Lingua villosa nigra," and it's a relatively harmless but gross symptom of mostly men smokers.
It causes a black, hairy tongue and occurs most regularly among men who smoke and are in poor health, have bad mouth hygiene, and sometimes because they take certain medicines.
It makes the tongue papilla grow up to 150% longer than normal and turn black or brown. Treatments to fix the problem sometimes do and sometimes don't work. The obvious advice from all researchers… quit smoking.

yeah i wouldnt doubt it if you've been smoking for more than 15 years

That's the tar, not nicotine, which causes cancer.
