Dental - February 2007

I hope someone can help me, as I really do not know what to do. For nearly a year now I have had a horrible taste in my mouth and even worse in the morning, sometimes it tastes like metal?. I'm sure I have tried everything. I use an electric toothbrush, colgate toothpaste, tongue scraper and corsodyl or dentyl mouthwash and dental floss nearly everyday. I've been to my dentist several times, he told me to drink loads of water, which I do and have always done but just has'nt really helped at all. I eat pretty well and also drink loads of milk and take vitamins, I have the odd cup of tea, don't smoke and don't drink any alcohol. Someoene must know something I can do to get rid of this, it's really getting me down.

my daughter who is 12 yrs old has class 2 division 2 mollecclusion. and her lower jaw is too backwards. We went to a general dentist who also does orthodontics. He said it costs $4000, treatment: First phase he will put some blocks and some bite plate to correct the bite and then in the second phase he will put the braces. We had good referals for him from our friends.

But since OUR general dentist suggested us to go for ortho, we went to one and he said two options. extraction and nonextraction. In the first case he will remove the two upper first molar teeth and move back the other teeth and put braces. and second option was to use braces first and then herbst to move the lower jaw forward. He said the lower jaw is 6 mm backward. He kind of scared us saying that it's difficult to move it that forward it all depends on her growth of the lower jaw. The quote he gave was $5250 . We live in CAlifornia.

Is this case difficult to treat by a dentist?

Please help me choose.

I'm in need of something. I'm 38, I have been drug free 8 years. (Meth) I'm very frigfhtened of dentists. The pain is ungodly. I believe I have perio disease, gigivitis, bone loss , teeth are loose, some have fallen out (with no blood)
I know i need to get some teeth. I am aware that i need antibiotics to heal first. Who do i go to first. I have medi-cal/denti-cal. I know there is no hope of saving my teeth, what alternatives do I have?

ok, ive got the dentist a week today for a check up cos ive not been in so long and heres my teething problems!!

1. I would like my teeth whitened, what is the best way? laser? whitening kit? caps?

2. I would like the fillings that are gray and visable when i smile, to be white and the same colour as my (to be) whitened teeth. I have never had a white filling before, so i just need advice! if they are no good is there an alternative?

3. I have a crown, and when i get my teeth whitened, this will be a different colour wont it? so will i need it replaced?

4. I have an appointment next week with NHS dentist, who also do private. which is better? NHS or private, and what is the difference?

5. I am aware that this may cost some money for the treatment i want, however I do not want ripped off so any advise would be really appreciated.

a while ago my wisom tooth was agony for about 4 months - no pain killer would help (i take 8 co-dydramol a day for an unrealted problem and it still hurt).
i managed to see a dentist and she said my upper left wisdom tooth is rotting and would have to be taken out, i was supposed to go back for an x-ray then a week later for the extraction but couldnt afford it so i have left it for 5 months now, the pain has stopped but there is hardly any tooth left and what is there is crumbling away when i eat.
should i be worried that the pain has stopped? what will happen if i just leave it?

What pays more...a orthodontist..dental hygienest...Pediatric Dentist ect. Once i graduate from high school i can become a dental assistant and all but i want to go to college and go farther into one of the feilds a mentioned earlier.

Ok so I havent been to the dentist for 4 yrs, partly from fear and partly from not been able to get one an djust been stuck on waiting lists!! I am so scared that when I go I will have to get all my teeth taken out and get false teeth!! I just looked at my teeth and on a few of them I have a few black bits on them, will these teeth need filling? one of my fillings has chipped and I have a funny taste in my mouth, will they have to take this tooth out?
