A good toothpaste to use is one that contains fluorides. Fluoride strengthen the teeth. Even though many toothpaste ads say that their product protect against plaque that is not entirely true, plaque is form by the sugars in foods that we eat and all foods contain their own sugars, and we have to eat in order to live to plaque will build up on your teeth but you are reponsible for removing it so that u cannot get cavities. To prevent gingivitis you must floss daily and brush around your gum line in a circular motion. As for a good toothbrush get one that is soft but firm so that it can safely remove plaque with out harming the gums. Colgate and Oral B usually have good toothbrushes.

This is my preference:

Tom's of Maine Toothpaste

Natural Whole Care™ Toothpaste
Size: 5.2 oz
Flavors: Cinnamon-Clove, Peppermint, Spearmint, Wintermint
Also available as a gel.

Our Whole Care™ toothpaste helps maintain good oral health by delivering cavity prevention, tartar control, whitening, and clean, fresh flavor using only natural ingredients. Whole Care™ also delivers on our belief in the inherent worth of people and nature by using recycled packaging and giving back 10% of profits and 5% of paid employee time to communities.

* Refreshing natural flavor. Real flavor oils, not artificial sweeteners like saccharin, leave your mouth feeling clean and fresh.
* Fights cavities. Naturally sourced fluoride remineralizes soft spots on teeth before they turn into cavities.
* Controls tartar. Zinc citrate, a naturally occurring mineral, interferes with the calcification of plaque into tartar.
* Gentle whitening. Natural silica (derived from sand) improves cleaning and gently whitens without bleaching ingredients or harsh abrasives.

Anything that doesn't have "whiteners" in them. Check the label to see if it's FDA approved. Most toothpaste with whiteners cause acne around the mouth. I use Colgate Luminous, works great.

Colgate Total gel and invest in a "Sonicare" toothbrush this combination is the best oh yeah and use a tongue cleaner and daily floss and occasional mouth wash since it is linked to cancer.
