the brackets only need to be changed if they are defective or come off, changing the brackets to or from clear will cost more money since they are really paying for 2 sets of braces, make sure your ortho offers colors on steel braces before you change them, i was excited for that and later on i was told my ortho only puts on gray bands

I had braces a long time ago but I do remember being able to change brackets and also I had friends who changed their brackets at school all the time. Ask your orthodontist to make sure, though.. everywhere has a different policy but usually, yes. It might have been just the rubber bands on the brackets though, now that I read the answer above me i'm not sure.

Once you get your braces on, they're usually used for the duration of your treatment. If you change your mind after you get the braces on and want a different type of bracket, the doctor might be reluctant to do it. If he does do it, be certain that an additional fee will be charged. Be sure you know what type of brackets you want prior to getting them put on.

It depends on what kind of braces you have, um with mine you just change the rubber bands that hold the wire in place, cuz the bracket is like glued to the teeth. and you can get gray/silver. not really a shiny steel.

You might, but it's expensive and time-consuming. To change the brackets, the old ones have to be removed and the adhesive either chipped or sanded off your teeth, which takes over an hour.

IF you have your brackets glued on your teeth.. then no you cant change them.. your stuck with whatever you got glued on. There might be a possibility but you would have to pay a lot of money to change them.
