It looks prettier, cleaner, healthier and younger. What's not to want about that?

However, some people overdo it...they seem obsessed with it...their teeth are TOO white and look ridiculous...and they damage the enamel of their teeth by overusing whitening products.

Marketing. We haven't til recently, maybe the last 5 years or so, just want them to be or appear clean I guess. Actors always has cosmetic things done to their smiles, and now it has moved into the mainstream. As teeth naturally darken with age, it's probably a losing battle. It's just another thing for us to buy I think. Dentistry advances and improvements have cut down on actual dentist work, now there are less cavities and false teeth, so they need to make $$ somehow.

Yes, it might appear vain (not vein) to some, but people are judged by their appearance, that's a fact of life. We all bathe, dress decently etc...it's in the same realm as that. I doubt anyone would choose to have discolored teeth rather than white healthy looking ones. I have normal white teeth myself. Some go overboard. One of my friends has teeth so white they are almost blue.

it is physically powerful even nevertheless I thought i could by no ability get white the tooth! After a ultimate dental cleansing i might desire to be extreme-high quality for a on the comparable time, even nevertheless then for all the tea and coffee, I won stained the tooth. So, faster or later I asked a chum in the event that they have been born with only ultimate white the tooth, or they had a "secret ingredient". They brushed with Colgate consistent morning and night time and flossed. secret ingredient: Take a million/8-a million/4 cup water and combine an same quantity of HYDROGEN PEROXIDE. Take a small mouthful and sleek it on your mouth, around your the tooth and gums for 30-60 seconds, then spit out. proceed with the entertainment of the measured out quantity. try this each morning and each night time. Your the tooth will become whiter step by step. It feels humorous the familiar time you sleek with section/section water/peroxide. even nevertheless it does whiten. Of course, the less coffee and tea keeps the the tooth white. As Hydrogen Peroxide is very low-value, it whitens, freshens, and is an antiseptic.

Teeth are supposed to be white and not yellow like yours :) Unfortunately bad habits like coffee and smoking can give teeth that lovely yellow tint ... would be better to avoid in the first place, but if there is a treatment to get back to white why not use it. And i don't mean that in the Michael Jackson way ;-)

not status really, just looks better. much better. first have your teeth whitened, if they're really badly stained. i always use peroxide as a rinse (30 seconds) after brushing my teeth with whitening toothpaste. if you keep up that routine you won't have to go to the dentist again (unless you drink lot's of coffee and smoke, in that case just buy some tooth whiting paste, gel, or what ever over the counter (a tooth beach) and apply it at least once a week).

Don't think it's only the Americans who want ultra white teeth.....we all do, especially us females. For starters, white teeth can take years off your age......my aunt who is the tender age of 70 had all her dull and dingy teeth crowned a few months ago, and it's taken years off her age. She actually looks pretty, despite being elderly.

It started with Hollywood, pure and simple. Its also a fashion thing like tanning. 100 yrs ago people would die if they got a tan and they never worried about their teeth. Its just fashonable now to have your teeth whitened. Also education about dental hygiene is more widespread.

People, including Americans, want white teeth because they look clean. Don't you agree?

you have to pay for all dentristry in the USA so I always thought it was a symbol of wealth & it came from there. I don't know that for a fact though, that's just always been my interpretation of it.
