If it lasts longer than a day you should call your dentist. I had a root canal done and once the nerve is gone, there shouldn't be any pain. But you said you have to get another one done in a month. If that one's on the same side of your mouth as the one you just had done, it might be what's causing the pain. Like everyone is saying though, call your dentist. Good luck.

When you have a root canal the nerve tissue is removed. You wont have hot or cold sensation anymore in that tooth but the tooth still sits in the bone surrounded by ligaments which are still very much alive. Everyone is different, but its not unusual for that tooth to feel slightly different for sometime after having root canal treatment. Severe pain or pressure is another story. Call your dentist if thats the case. Try to avoid chewing on that tooth untill you have a crown placed.

I've had four second molar in all the way around. The first two after they were done never knew anything was ever done to them . Third one no big deal the forth was a year ago it hurt the worst to get done and still have a hard time chewing and putting a lot of pressure on it. But the pain of having it done fades fast.

There should be no pain left over at all. The root (nerve) was (or should have been ) completely removed, therefore you would not feel pain there anymore. If it still hurts, maybe all of the root was not removed. It happens. Call your dentist.

how long ago did you have it done?
I've had all of my wisdom teeth removed (not all at the same time)
and it hurt for three or four days afterward.
The Dentist should have prescribed a pain medication.
It does go away but it takes a little time.
Good Luck.
