I used a box and it worked, but then the whiteness faded! Now I am using a second one, will the whiteness stay better or just fade again? Are they worth using?

The problem with teeth whitening is that if you are in the old habbits of eating/drinking teeth-staining foods, your teeth will revert to the old shade again. In order to make your whitening last, you have to not drink soda, coffee, cranberry juice, etc. Teeth whitening isn't putting a layer of white on your teeth, it actually goes in and removes old stains; thus if you put new stains on it, the whiteness will go away.

The Crest kind are not permanent, they last a few months to a year. They are worth using if you don't mind the hassle and cost of keeping up with it. I tried whitening strips but my teeth were too sensitive and they hurt.

I would not use them. The more natural thing to use is Hydrogen Peroxide. After you brush your teeth try to hold it in your mouth for ten minutes. It bubbles some so don't fill your mouth with it. Also don't swallow it. If you brush 3 times a day, only use the peroxide once a day. Some people don't have a normal bright white finish to their teeth. Coffee and smoking can stain your teeth too.

I used a box and it lasted about 2 years! I am now on my 2nd box. The only thing I am finding is that my gums are not liking the treatment. Teeth are becoming sensitive.

You have to continue using them, if you use them correctly the color should last about the same amount of time. If you want to make the whiteness last longer, avoid coffee, dark pops and tea. Also, see your dentist if you want a permanent solution.
