I'm thinking about going to Mexico or Central America to get some dental work done, specifically a root canal and crowns. Anybody know where I should go?

As in the U.S., you should look for a certified dentist to get the best treatment available for you. I recommend that you look for a dentist that is a member of the A.D.M. (Asociación Dental Mexicana) http://www.adm.org.mx, which is the equivalent of the A.D.A. or a dentist member of the International College of Dentists, so that you don’t get any surprises.

If you are planning on going out of the US for dental work what are your reasons, COST??? If that's the case and your aren't intrested in a board certified dentist than you might consider the consequences of improper methods or sterilization of instruments and if you were to have complications months later could you aford to go back, and if you could what money did you save??? On the other hand if you feel that is where the best dentist are located, by all means GO!!

Dental College is a better idea. I know they are super cheap and need your help for their education. The work is good they have to know their stuff before they can do this stuff. In other countries you could wake up with out a liver. Your kidneys will be on sale at the EBAY site. Trust me. Dental college- thousands of dollars of work for hundreds.

If you live near a dental school, I would go there, the dental students need patients to work on to pass their exams.

I used to live in Central America and I wouldn't go there for any sort of medical help.

Look in your paper to see if they do medical testing. Here they give insentive for trying their pain meds, they will take out your wisdom teeth and pay you for it.
