I hope someone can help me, as I really do not know what to do. For nearly a year now I have had a horrible taste in my mouth and even worse in the morning, sometimes it tastes like metal?. I'm sure I have tried everything. I use an electric toothbrush, colgate toothpaste, tongue scraper and corsodyl or dentyl mouthwash and dental floss nearly everyday. I've been to my dentist several times, he told me to drink loads of water, which I do and have always done but just has'nt really helped at all. I eat pretty well and also drink loads of milk and take vitamins, I have the odd cup of tea, don't smoke and don't drink any alcohol. Someoene must know something I can do to get rid of this, it's really getting me down.

If you have any large fillings in your mouth there is a possibility one of your teeth has died and has an abscess at its root tip. Sometimes these abscesses aren't painful because they leak their puss into your mouth. Needless to say puss doesn't taste good. This is something that is hard to diagnose and your dentist may be missing it on your X-rays. Assuming he's taken any.
You might want to seek a second opinion. Another dentist may have insights your current one doesn't.

If it is tasting like metal, chances are that you are causing slight abrasions to the gums, causing them to bleed. Try using a softer brush. Has you dentist said anything about gingivitis? Also.. are you on any types of medications? Just somethings to consider.

I think I know what you have.
You have a post-nasal drip.
I have one and have a horrid taste in my mouth all the time. At first i thought it was my teeth, but have since discvoered otherwise.
Get yourself a nasal spray,(ask a pharmacist for what is best for post-nasal drip) and see how it goes.
Not an awful lot you can do about it besides this.
Good luck.

It sounds very much like acid reflux, there is a slight leak of acid from the stomach when you lie down, this can cause bad taste and sore throat sometimes, try taking a spoon of gaviscon before bed and see if it helps.

Are you taking any medication? I had some tablets a while ago that caused this as a side effect.

More likely a stomach condition. You need to check it out with your doctor. Anything else will only treat it temporarily.
