I had all 4 of mine removed!

I asked the maxifacial consultant(dental surgeon) exactley the same question. He advised that in times of old when humans lived in caves and were hunter gatherers, we ate meat and had virtual no dental hygine like we do today. Because of this our molars would drop out and wisdom teeth had room to grow through. Nowadays most people still have all their teeth and wisdom teeth don't have any room to come through causing toothache due to the pressure put on back teeth. He went on to say that once you start to get problems with your wisdom teeth, you are likley to for the rest of your life and you are better off to get them removed. I only had problems with my lower wisdoms but he advised I should have all four removed.

I had stitches which were very sore for a couple of weeks but they heeled very rapidly as gums do.

Hope this helps...

They can be removed if they are causing you a lot of pain, get infected alot or you have too many teeth in your mouth. Your dentist would be best to advise you, but removal of wisdom teeth can be very painfull

Hi once they have come through and still cause you pain them you may have to get them taken out as they might not have just enough room to come through and they start pushing you other teeth out of the way which causes the discomfort. The hurt when they are just comong through if the still hrut when they are sort of through go and have a word with the dentist.

if they are coming through without any problems then leave them well alone. they only need to be removed if they are impacted which basically means they are trying to come through but they are not straight and end up squashed against your other teeth. i had mine removed and it's not the nicest thing in the world as you look like a hamster for a week!

i got 4 wisdom teeth at once. but i felt absolutely no pain whatsoever. i didn't feel a thing. but my orthodontist said they all had to be removed. they were so bad that they had to be removed by a consultant mouth surgeon. you might have to get them removed even if there is no pain, as they can cause complications later in life. see your dentist and they'll refer you to a surgeon.

you only need to get them removed if they are causing you trouble, like if they are impacted. I went to the dentist about 5 years ago and when they looked at the x-ray they said mine were coming through, they never actually came through any more. Hope they dont give you any trouble.

It's best to keep them if possible as if you have them removed it can effect your other teeth.
Best thing to do is keep the area really clean make sure you don't get food under the flap of gum (if there is one) this can cause a painful infection.

You only remove wisdom teeth if they are bothering or impacted. they will hurt now because they are now coming thru but if they come up straight it's ok

when mine started to come in the dentist told me they would move the rest of my teeth. best to get them all removed at once. that way you don't have to keep going back.

Deepest sympathies!
Dentists will only recommend removing them if they are impacted in some way, but it is better to get them out if you can because they are a bugger to clean, debris gets stuck right behind them and they are a high risk for decay.
Besides which, they serve no real purpose.
Fortunatley for me, mine were impacted so i got rid of them.
