I had a root canal 10 years ago and never went back and had a crown put on. It has been filled. My tooth has recently broken on both sides. It does not hurt and I am eager to get it fixed. What are my options now that it has been so long ago? Can they repair it or will it have to be pulled?

My DH was complaining of pain today---the area is where they pulled all of his teeth last summer. Should he be having any kind of pain there now?

I had a filling at the dentist today and the dentist numbed my tooth with an injection of some sort of anaesthetic i guess. Is it possible that there could be side effects of this as I have had some stomach problems, nausea etc since the anaesthetic has worn off. Is there perhaps anyone who is a dentist and knows this, or has experience similar problems?

I tried everything from "Crest" Triple-Action Whitening mouthwash, and Crest Fresh Mint Extra Whitening protection and I still get the same results. Do these things actually whiten teeth?

I just started using the Sonicare toothbrush and wanted to know the effects it has on gum recession. Does it prevent it or does it cause more of it? Any input would be helpful. Thanks!

I am having a tooth implant. My insurance co. won't pay a nickel for it. They say it is not a necessary procedure since there are alternatives even though I had to sign a statement with my dentist that included the clause 'I understand this is a necessary procedure in my case because alternatives could jeopardize the health of my entire tooth structure.' Then I noticed my dental insurance pays for preventative oral cancer screening. I asked their rep whether that was a necessary procedure since obviously it's not, since it's preventative. The rep gave me some b.s. answer. Then I said, "why don't you just admit you won't pay for the implant because it's expensive?" The rep said, we don't pay for dental implants because they are not covered in our policy." Duh. That's Illogic 101. Do insurance companies really think we are that stupid?

My husband had a root canal started MONTHS ago and a temporary filling was put in. He lost his insurance and could not afford the remaining work that needed to be done. Can he just get the temporary filling removed and a permanent filling put in? OR does he have to either complete the root canal or pull the tooth since the drilling and cleaning has already been completed throughout the tooth and root?

I've had it done professionally twice...it's very painful and I want to avoid having it done again 5 years down the road. I floss EVERY DAY and still have bleeding gums. I gargle with peroxide and brush properly but this problem persists. Any advice?

Even though I've used Sensidyne on a continual basis for a couple of months, it does not help the sensitiviy along my teeth where some of my crowns meet the tooth. These same teeth are sensitive to cold, but not hot. They are also sensitive to brushing at first, but not as bad if I put hot water on my toothbrush and toothpaste.

Does anyone know of any new procedures that can desensitize teeth?
