My DH was complaining of pain today---the area is where they pulled all of his teeth last summer. Should he be having any kind of pain there now?

oh yes, definately! My dentist said that it takes about 3 months for the bone and root connection of where a tooth is removed to heal, but some people can sometimes have phantom pain. I had 8 teeth removed 18 months ago and on spot still has a twinge of pain now and then -- but my dentist did do an xray there to make sure that there was no bone chips or other problems at the site, so get it checked and then if there is no problem I guess, like me you will have to accept that you really really really miss having real teeth...

All the arguements against declawing (above) are great! Show your mom exactly what's involved in declawing- it really is cruel. BUT, also show your mom that she doesn't NEED to declaw the cat- train kitty not to scratch on the furniture, etc, and keep kitty's nails trimmed. Get the cat a scratching post (or two, some are pretty cheap!), and teach her to use it. One way is to put the kitty next to the post, then take her paw and 'scratch' the post with it. give her a yummy treat when she uses her new post! Squirt her with water if she starts to scratch where she's not allowed, then pick her up & show her the post again. She'll learn, but it takes time. If you can step up and make the effort to train the cat, then your mom will have less reason to declaw - and will have more respect for you all around. Good luck!

It's possible. When I had several teeth removed, the Doc said if i had any pain that he could go back and do something to the remaining nerve endings. It could also be referred pain from the sinus cavity.
