I had a root canal done and the dentist couldn't get the tooth numb at first. After 3 injections I wasn't numb from the dental anesthesia. The 4th time he said he was doing something different. He said he was injecting into the bone this time. I was numb right after that injection. Are there any complcations from this? Is this normal?

a dentist told my friend that she should do nothing (as far as dental work) for her seven yr old and her teeth. and that since they are her baby teeth not to worry. this poor girl has like no teeth left in her mouth and i know she is in pain. i am not sure how long her teeth have been this way but i think she needs a second opinion from another dentist. her permanent teeth will greatly be affected. any opinions?

Re: Why is Dental procedures so expensive. That is easy for you to say. Some people can't afford to go on vacation, let alone pay for dental procedures. It is easier said then done.

I have had them for about 2 years. I was told it would only take 8 months but they just don't seem to work! I wear them regularly.I have moved and changed from dentist to ortho, still not working! My first doc put buttons on it which helped a little but not much. My current ortho said it will work without buttons but i highly doubt it will. Since I was misdiagnosed, does any know what my options are and if invisalign or the doctor should refund my $5000?? Thanks!

For me, it's the drilling. I'm always afraid I'll get my tongue in the way and he'll drill a whole through my tongue. I don't care how much they tell me I can't do it because they are holding my tongue etc. I feel like I can and will do it. It's an extreme phobia of mine! I sit in the chair with my back arched the whole time he's drilling.

My dad lives in South Africa and cannot afford to go to the dentist and he has been complaining about his teeth for a few years and now it is at the point where they are wearing away to nothing. I am doing my best to help him sort out whatever he needs to be done for example I will be sending for him within the year and when he is here I will take him to have the Lasik surgery, and was also going to take him to have his teeth fixed and after researching all dentist and the procedures it is too costly for me and it breaks my heart that I can't do for him what he really needs for his everyday life, whereas he has always done for things for me all my life without teeling me he can't afford it or any other excuse, he is the best dad, he is my just the best I would not trade him for a million dollars, he is literally the best dad in the world. SO I would really appreciate it if there is anyone out there that can or is willing kto help us please. By the way I live in Baytown, Texas.

I have braces, and my gums are swollen terribly! It's mostly the gum between my two front teeth...i bit into an apple one time and it just swelled and stuck out a little! It doesn't hurt, but the rest of my gums are pretty swolen. I brush twice a day, and I admit I can floss more, but braces makes it very annoying and difficult to floss. I will be getting my braces off sometime soon, so I'm worried about looking stupid with an extremely swollen gum between my front teeth! What should I do? Does swishing salt water help?

About a month ago, a small dark spot appeared out of nowhere on the gum tissue located in between two of my bottom teeth. The mark takes up the surface area of the very tip of my bottom gum tissue (the part that looks like a triangle). Now, it is a little darker, and the tissue feels hard, almost as though it were dead tissue. Does anybody know what this could be, and why this would happen? My teeth are well taken care of, and are in great shape. I have never had any tooth problems other than cavities, although I do have sensitivity near the gums in some of my other teeth, but my dentist at the time (I have no dental care at the moment) said it wasn't a major problem. I brush my teeth twice a day (sometimes more) but I don't floss as often as I should. Could this have something to do with it? If you are a dentist, your expert opinion is greatly appreciated. If you aren't a dentist, your suggestions are appreciated as well.....Last question: Has this happened to anyone else?
