annoying after a while, some people bite it but that makes it worse. what causes this?

sometimes you get little infections in the crypts of your tonge, theyre nothing to worry about and often the only sign is what looks like the "taste bub" (actullay just a papilla) popping up, if its too annoying start rinsing with listerine or warm salt water

I really should know this, but I'm not certain.

I don't think it's a taste bud. I believe it's a filiform papillae that was traumatized, possibly mechanically or by excessive heat.

When I drink hot drinks, I tend to get them--even when I haven't felt as though I burned my tongue. They are painful.

I ask my doctor about that years ago...He told me it was just one of those things, a part of growing up.Yeah, I didn't like that answer either.

extremes.... such as something too sour or something too hot or too spicy.
