If you care enough about your teeth to invest in braces, why on earth would you risk wearing off the enamel with a tongue piercing.
Wait until you get your braces off and maybe you will change your mind about the pierce

have you not had enough pain with getting braces put on?! it doesn't hurt actually getting your tongue done-but afterwards it hurts to eat for a couple of days to weeks(which feels more like the passing of seasons while going thru it) not to mention the spot the barbell has to wear away on the roof of your mouth and behind your bottom row of teeth on your gums. and all the enamal on your teeth-gone. then let's just hope you don't accidentally bite down on it while chewing food and crack or chip a tooth. plus you can not help but stick your tongue out every once in a while when chatting it up with people. you may not even realize you are doing it. PEOPLE CAN NOT STAND THAT! but seriously, it is soooooo not worth paying to have that done. get something else pierced that does not involve so many risks.

I really think you should wait till you get your braces take out. The pain of a tongue ring is imberable...and only a person that has had their tongue pierced themselves should know such as myself. I really wouldn't recommend it..just because of the simple fact that your tongue swells up after the piercing. Good Luck if you do decide to get it.

There have been articles written and studies done that tongue piercing is VERY BAD for your oral health and has been shown to cause painful nerve damage. I will provide links below to articles I remember reading a few months ago.
Aside from that, if you are h*llbent on getting your tongue pierced, you would want to do it AFTER your braces. Otherwise the stud could possibly break your brackets.
According to the American Association of Orthodontists:
"My child wants to get his/her tongue pierced. Will this interfere with orthodontic treatment?
Tongue-piercing jewelry may contribute to breakage of appliances and to tooth and gum damage from contact with the stud."
