When I'm sick and want to keep my toothbrush clean(er), i fill up a shot glass with mouthwash and soak it. Actually works to kill most bacteria...

Your toothbrush should be replaced every three months (or at the first sign of the bristles looking worn) but give it an extra rinse every week or so in hydrogen peroxide just to keep it germ free, or daily due to illness. Always rinse thoroughly after use and allow the toothbrush to stand to air dry, it demotes the growth of bacteria.

Tip: If you maintain regular dental appointments every 6 mos, ask for 2 brushes after your cleaning. The dentist gets them at a reduce cost for buying in bulk. It's unlikely you'll be refused or charged, they are promoting dental health remember. I know I've never refused a patient. Good luck.

Your method works well, people have used hydrogen peroxide, rinse before use and it will kill all of the bacteria. If you ingest small amounts of the peroxide by accident you'll be fine.

Let it soak in Listerine until you need it next. That will kill the bacteria on it and still leave it safe to put back in your mouth.
