My dad lives in South Africa and cannot afford to go to the dentist and he has been complaining about his teeth for a few years and now it is at the point where they are wearing away to nothing. I am doing my best to help him sort out whatever he needs to be done for example I will be sending for him within the year and when he is here I will take him to have the Lasik surgery, and was also going to take him to have his teeth fixed and after researching all dentist and the procedures it is too costly for me and it breaks my heart that I can't do for him what he really needs for his everyday life, whereas he has always done for things for me all my life without teeling me he can't afford it or any other excuse, he is the best dad, he is my just the best I would not trade him for a million dollars, he is literally the best dad in the world. SO I would really appreciate it if there is anyone out there that can or is willing kto help us please. By the way I live in Baytown, Texas.

I really don't know anywhere where your dad can get dental work pro bono but you can get it very cheap if there is a dental college or school in your area. Students in their final year work on those who need it and have limited means to pay. It provides the students with experience and helps the patient get care they otherwise could not attain. Don't worry! It is all safe and the students are supervised by totally trained dentists. I am not familiar with Baytown but if you are close to a major city such as Houstin, Austin, etc., there should be a dental school in the area. Please ask your dentist as he would know. He might also know where your dad could get the work done if there is no dental school in your area.

I have a standard answer for people seeking free or discounted care, but I really do not think it would be possible for a foreign visitor to use any of these services. I suggest that you might talk to your own dentist, assuming you have a good long-term relationship, and ask about some kind of deal for your dad. He may be sympathetic to your cause.

The dental school is not a bad idea, but it could take forever to get teh work done and your dad may not be able to remain in the country on a tourist visa long enough to do everything.

And... You might be surprised to learn that your dad really doesn't need all that much done. If he has told you that he has terrible teeth, he might just have one or two teeth that are really bad and otherwise just needs a few fillings in some others.

Check with your local Catholic church; they may have something set up to help him out. THey will base it on his income, or yours, or both.

Definately check into the dental school.

Either way, definately do something about the teeth. I'd imagine he's in pain as a result of rotting teeth.. If he's not, he will be when it starts causing bone loss.
