Do you prefer a soft, medium, hard or extra soft toothbrush?

I'm just a curious Dental Hygienist.

Alie,
I like the firmest "soft" toothbrush I can find. There is no standard for soft . . . . .I compared them at the dentist office and picked the firmest. Does this seem vague? I don't mean it to be!

I feel like it cleans well and yet is gentle to the gums.

Good luck with the poll!

I used to use a medium toothbrush until I started into a dental assisting program and was taught that soft is really a better way to go. I always felt like I was getting my teeth cleaner with it being a little stiffer but now realize I was hurting my gums by brushing too hard.

I don't know whether it's soft, medium, or whatever, but I use one of those Crest spinbrush things. It works really well--I've had a grand total of two cavities in 24 years. It also helps me clean better along my gums.

a demanding toothbrush will take tooth away with the plaque. also you should be brushing your gums once you sweep. a demanding toothbrush may make that painful. attempt a gentle complete sized head.
