I like to brush after every meal and snack, but I wonder if this is too harsh on my gums. I use a soft toothbrush in the morning and during the day and an Oral B triumph at night.

I have a 25-year old amalgam that the dentist says is leaking and needs to be replaced with a porcelain crown. My dentist's charge is $1900. Insurance will cover $390. I decided to book an appointment with a local dental college where the cost is $780. The front desk employee at the dentist office was upset when I asked for a copy of my X-rays. She wanted to know if I was no longer going to be a patient at that office. I said I wasn't sure, but I was worried about the $1900 fee.

I would be willing to stay at the dentist if I could negotiate the fee, but I don't know how to go about it. I have been going to this office for 9 years and had major work done before. I've never negotiated before, but the price of a crown has gone up by 60% since I've last had one done. Any advice would be appreciated, and I understand that it costs a lot to maintain a dental business. I feel like this might be a lose/lose situation.

I'm 17, had my braces for 1 1/2 years, and I'm supposed to wear my retainer 24/7 for 3 months (minus when I'm eating). My teeth were never really that bad and I can't even really tell a difference now compared to before braces. Is it really necessary to wear my retainer all the time?

I am getting braces in about month. I am so worried because I just hate braces, even though I have never had them before. I sometimes cry at night because I don't want braces. I would also like to know some tips and general information on Braces. I am in 6th grade at the moment and I'm very nervous. A couple of friends have braces, and they say I have to get teeth pulled, and that braces are the worst thing that can happen to you. I would also like to know about pain with putting them on. The tighting, and how long will I have to wear them at an average. I have an a very small mouth and an overbite, will I have to wear that head g ear thing at night or what ever? Thank-you for taking the time to read all of this. Please help as soon as possible.

My husband, whom is freaked about getting a tooth pulled tomorrow at the Oral Surgeon, has opted to have nitrous oxide. Will he be awake, or just sedated enough to relax? Will he feel the surgeon removing the tooth?

I noticed a dark line in the back of one of my front four teeth on the top. It is at the top of the tooth, very faint. It's one one of the teeth next to the two front teeth.
Can this be a cavity? If so..how do they fill it? I am going to the dentist on Thursday..and I'm in paranoia mode now..teeth are sooooooo important!

I am looking for a form of teeth cleaning programme for young adults who have SLD's, and so far is refusing to open their mouths. I am loathed to go down the route of forcing a mouth prop in to clean their teeth, as this is most distressful. Has anyone any ideas?

I like to buy some chewable toothbrushes or even flavoured toothpaste (that isn't minty) to try and encourage his brushing.
