All four of my wisdom teeth were impacted and had to be surgically removed from my gums. It tops the list as far as most painful surgery I've had mainly because it was an oral surgery but it's not so painful you would not be able to bear t. The surgery doesn't last for too long. So in no time you'll be back home and get to kick your feet up. It takes about a week to feel and look normal again. But that also depends on the extent of your surgery too.

I'm having my wisdom teeth pulled.. did your's hurt when they were pulled?
-----
Had them removed as pairs....uppers...then lowers.
Frankly it may have hurt at the time but I believe my dentist sent me home before with a Valium to take. I really didn't care if there was any pain. (he did have to brace his equipment against my jaw and use his knee in the process if I recall correctly).
The only real problem I encountered was the days afterward keeping a wad of gauze in the spot where the tooth was. The painkiller he prescribed worked well but talking sounded pretty sill y with those wads in there.

I had all four of my wisdom teeth taken out last year and I went the route of going to a dentist who was also an oral surgeon. All of my wisdom teeth were impacted and had to be cut out and the dentist just injected the numbing medicine into my gums, let it take effect, then cut mine out. It wasn't bad, as all I had to recover from afterward was the surgery and not the anesthesia.

The act of getting my wisdom teeth removed did not hurt.
After the surgery then it hurt. Make sure to start taking the pan medication and the ibuprofen before the Novocaine subsides.

The hardest part is the wait. Sitting in the dentists office imagining the worst. I had all four out with Novocaine while in the Army. Didn't hurt, but i almost past out on the 3 mile walk back to the barracks.

I had all 4 taken out at once. However, I wasn't impacted. I just needed to make room for braces. I hear if they're infected, turned, or impacted they hurt like a motha! But I was able to eat in less than a week.
Make sure you go to an oral surgeon... not just a dentist.
Good luck!

Did it hurt me? For me, not that much. I just slept and took lots of tylenol for the rest of the day.But mine were easy to pull. It all depends on how they are growing. Some come in sideways, so take a bit of digging to get out. That's gotta hurt!

Don't want to scare you but it was horrible. My teeth were cystic and impacted and the dentist who pulled them described them as "godawful" My best advice: get general anasthesia and go under so you don't remember anything.

I had mine taken out and it wasn't bad. But, they were partially impacted. If they are totally impacted, you a screwed my friend.
