I'm 17, had my braces for 1 1/2 years, and I'm supposed to wear my retainer 24/7 for 3 months (minus when I'm eating). My teeth were never really that bad and I can't even really tell a difference now compared to before braces. Is it really necessary to wear my retainer all the time?

If you don't wear it 24/7, you'll just have to continue wearing it longer! Think about it, its job is to push on certain teeth for a certain amount of time; you can wear it 24/7 for 3 months, or 12 hours a day for 6 months! (Actually if you take it in and out, your teeth may "settle back" and you'll need to wear it longer!)

I used to leave mine on the dinner tray at school once in a while, so it got thrown out and I'd have to get a new one. They got so mad!

donning it 24/7 is important till your orthodontist tells you in any different case. in case you do not carry on along with his training, your teeth will pass and you will choose braces returned. it is different from of project element, your teeth WILL pass in case you do not positioned on your retainer appropriate. of direction you may take them out to consume. it may be disgusting in case you probably did not because of the fact food could get caught between the roof of your mouth and the retainer. you ought to additionally do away with them for brushing your teeth, yet purely determine you place them returned in spectacular away as quickly as you're executed eating and combing. finally you will purely ought to positioned on them 12 hours an afternoon, yet your orthodontist assist you to be attentive to whilst it fairly is o.k. to try this.
