Yes stay away from clear and yellow (if yellow is going to be the only color). Clear stains bad. If you don't want anything to be too noticeable (other than having tons of metal in your mouth) go with black or gray. If it was close to an important game I did school colours (because cheerleaders are suppose to have school spirit kind of thing).

Yellow will make your braces look dirty.
Red...well, I've always thought it makes your mouth look bloody!
Aside from that, you can have some fun with the colors. If you want to be conservative, go with light blue or smoke (grey) color.

Do what ever you want. Have some fun with them, red, white, and blue for the 4th. Orange and Black for Halloween, well you get the idea.

don't get yellow or white- they make your teeth look less white
do get red, blue , or grey- red and blue make your teeth look whiter and grey blends the braces into your teeth more (in case you don't want them to stand out as much)

You can change the color every time you go in so pick whatever you want. Valentine's day is coming up so maybe red for February.

Stay away from yellow.
I think my daughter started out with blue. Then when they let her change she varied her colors from purple, pink, and and then blue again.

not green:unless you like the spinach in the teeth green.
Not red; unless you like constantly worrying that you look like your cut yourself.
Try plain silver or gold then you can go wild with the different colour elastics!
