Dental school in general is not an easy thing to get into, it is highly competitive. Good grades in undergrad, decent score on the DAT, extracuriculars, and a clean record are all positives. You don't have to be perfect, but if you don't convey the message that you can handle the workload, or your character is in question, have fun.

Good luck.

I'm a dentist.

There are no dental schools that are easy to get into. In fact, getting into dental school is almost as competitive as getting into medical school. Almost, but not quite.

Like medical school, they look at your numbers first. For dental school, it's your GPA (science and non-science) and your DAT scores. If either of those numbers are deficient, then forget it. All the extracurricular/dental experience in the world won't make a bit of difference. The magic numbers? Oh, a 3.4 GPA and a 20 on the DAT are about average (.1 to .2 lower than med school averages).

One other thing schools will want to know is whether or not you're truly interested in dentistry. If you wanted to go to medical school and chose dentistry as a back-up, you better find a way to hide it.

Oh, one more thing, dental school is an absolutely miserable process. I hated every minute of it. Every minute.
