I'm scarred! With in the next month I have to get them. I'm scared on how I will look, be able to eat, talk, and so on. I'm worried about looking like an old grandma and my husband not wanting to go out with me or my kids. I'm 28 and been putting it off for 4 years now. They say its because of having to many kids to fast. But what to do... Thanks for all useful help!

I just got my braces off- one week ago. and I have been wearing my retainer most of the day. I probably have it on for 18 hours or something. I wanted to know if this would be ok, since I don't wear it for the full 24 hours. Also, can I readjust the wires on the retainer by myself if I have the tools? I am really far from my orthodontist since I'm at college now.

I have toothache in on the left side of my mouth but I'm finding it hard to isolate a tooth it is coming from! Sometimes the pain is severe in the bottom left side other times it hurts in the left upper jaw! I have had all my wisdom teeth removed and have a fear of dentists surgeries so any cure which avoids this would be great!!! If not any idea of prices as I'm a poor student!!!! Finally the pain isn't there all the time it can just start up randomly and usually goes when i go to sleep well i dens't wake me up but sometimes it can delay me going to sleep!!

Any helpful advice would be extremely welcome!!!

The pain radiates from the area that was numbed--the front of the jaw to the rear, up the mandibular joint into the cheekbone and around the temple area and eye socket. I was taking vicodin, then was prescribed tylenol 3 along with an antibiotic that i am still taking, but nothing seems to help and the pain is spreading. I dont sleep well. I alternate hot and cold packs and that only helps for a few minutes at a time. Help!!!

I got 2 of my wisdom teeth extracted today from the right side of my jaw. The lower one was impacted so they dug it out and sewed me back up with non-dissolvable sutures but I think the top one was more or less just pulled (there's a hole there).

I'm really worried about getting dry socket as they're apparently very, very painful so I was curious if the minute the clot fell out, I'd be able to tell? Even if I'm currently medicated with Tylenol 3 w/codeine? Would it take a few days to be able to tell? I ask because I ate an ice cream cone and am worried whether or not the motions of eating it may have dislodged a clot in my upper jaw.
