well gargling isn't going to do much for the gum behind your front teeth!!

it sounds as if you bristles got caught under the gum line and it's led to inflammation. or you burned it. or it could be an infection.

try a mouthwash with chlorhexadine in it....there is one called chlorohex (something similar to that).
alternatively, some thing cold like an ice cube may bring down the swelling if it becomes particularly painful.

mouth sprays for when you get a really bad throat that numb should work too.

make sure you are brushing thoroughly too...that doesn't mean harder! but make sure that you are cleaning the plaque off the backs of your teeth where you cant see.

Gargle with Listerine at least thrice in the day. Refrain from biting down on food until the swelling eases off. Eat really soft food.

And in future, as someone already suggested, brush your teeth thrice a day and floss at nights without fail.

Hope you feel better.

Gargle with oral antiseptic or if you don't have money warm water with lots of rock salt. Mix it well and use it for gargling. You should take Mefenamic acid 500 mg. It's a pain killer. And always brush your teeth

a warm salt water rinse, then something antiseptic like a regular mouthwash or a diluted peroxide solution (half peroxide, half water, don't swallow this). hydrogen peroxide is very cheap. perhaps one of those gels that numb tooth pain for a while if the rinses don't work.

stay on top of it, tooth problems can progress quickly and turn into something worse. good luck! hope something works for you, tooth pain is the worst : (

try brushing your teeth 3 times a day and using mouthwash on a daily basis and it will prevent this sort of thing from happening
