not necessarily. but you can get a grinding mouthpiece from your orthodontist to see if you are a grinder. :) take calcium supplements if you are.

If you grind your teeth at night, you will know. It will be so loud that other members of your family will hear you. Also, you'll wear down you teeth- they will be flat instead of rigid. I have had bruxism all my life and my daughter has it too. Buy a mouth guard in Walgreen's if you can't get one made by the dentist. My front teeth hurt in the morning because when you grind, you push out the front. Every one is different - I never had my jaw lock because of it.

The dentist will tell you after having a look at your teeth whether or not you're a grinder.

If you are, get a mouthguard. Grinding your teeth can cause you a lot of unwanted problems down the line.

number one symptom would be waking up with a headache. Your dentist can tell when he looks at your teeth, he will see the wear on your teeth. he can make you a night guard for about 100 dollars. or you can buy them at the drug store (custom made are better) you should get one before you ruin your teeth. I grind mine 24/7 because i have TMJ. I wear a guard all the time.

A dentist can often look at your teeth and tell, but you can ask whoever shares a room with you. If you are not "of age," invite a close friend over and tell her to let you know if you grind your teeth.

Grinding or clenching will usully cause, sore jaw, popping or clicking, headaches, or sensativity. If you have any of these, you might grind or clench at night. Sometimes stress can cause it so it is temporary, but if it does not get any better then you might want to go to your dentist to see whats up. You dont want it to get to bad.

GRINDING AT NIGHT MAY NOT BE APPARENT TO YOU. THE DAMAGE DONE TO THE TEETH IS BEST EVIDENCED BY VISITING A DENTIST FOR AN ORAL EXAMINATION. THERE ARE VARIOUS APPLIANCES THAT CAN BE PLACED BY YOUR DENTIST IN THE MOUTH TO DEAL WITH THE GRINDING. BECAUSE THESE ARE CUSTOM MADE FOR YOU THEY CANNOT BE BOUGHT IN THE PHARMACY.
