I'm a smoker (soon to be ex-smoker, I hope) who has smoked for more than 20 years. I'm ready to quit and I want and need to quit.

However, my insurance refused to cover a prescription for Chantix, saying that is was not "medically necessary". Huh. Okay...whatever...I paid for it myself, which cost over $120.

I have tried other methods to quit and all have failed. Or, I should say, I failed at them. Anyway, I heard about Chantix, did research on it, talked to my doctor about it and decided to try it. He wrote the script and I took it to my pharmacy. Surprise, surprise...they told me that my insurance flat out denied to cover it.

My question is this: how can quitting smoking NOT be medically necessary? How can an insurance company view it like that? I'm just having a very hard time understanding that. I mentioned to my doctor who stared at me in shock...as if to say "Say WHAT?!?!?!".

I fail to see the logic in that. Opinions, anyone?

I am so sick and tired of the jolts I receive all day. Does anyone know why a person would get shocked all day for about 2 weeks straight?? I wear different shoes every day and this doesn't happen to the other people in my office. Everything metal I touch and every person I touch shocks me!! All day long while I'm at work. Could there be a medical reason? My coworkers say something must be wrong...

I've never stayed with a company for more than 6 months and I cant work more than part time because I get uncontrollable panic attacks and sever depression. even just working part time makes me feel like killing myself. This effects me even when I'm not at work I dread having to go back the second I leave I feel completely hopeless. I've gone to THOUSANDS of physiatrist and to name just to name a few antidepressants I've been on (Effexor, Remeron, Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Prozac, Paxil.. the list gos on and on, and nothing helps. I've even been placed in a mental institution before for other reasons. Now that I'm an adult I've lost my parents medical benefits and am left with no help what so ever. I just don't understand how I can get over this.. I just want to be normal.. If it wasn't for my boyfriend Id be living on the streets, and its just not fair for him to have to pay for everything. dose anyone else suffer from sever depression from work? Anyone have any ideas to help?

I was diagnosed with PCOS 3 years ago and I'm on the pill (seasonique) to help with my hormones and cymbalta for the migraines that I occasionaly get.

I'm not really obese but I need to lose 20 pounds to be where I want to be but I haven't had any luck. I work out probably 5 - 6 times a week, including running an hour on an elliptical machine. I watch what I eat and don't overeat. Most of my fat is in my stomach area and I just really want to have my confidence back.

Does anyone else have this condition and have you found anything that helps you? I've read about metformin and the insulite system, but has anyone had success with these? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

My fiance and I are set to be married in one month. We live together and sleep together in the same bed. The problem is he snores and makes all kinds of noises at night ( flatulance, coughing, even choking). By the time the sun rises, I feel sick from not getting sleep. I try to talk to him about it, and he gets offended and says he is fat and that is why he snores. I stay at home with our new baby (who also is up at night) and this lack of sleep is starting to affect my breastmilk volume as well. What should I do? (He is against us sleeping in separate beds.) Any advice? Am I destined to have my own bedroom when we get married? (By the way, I cant wear earplugs, they are too uncomfortable). Thanks for you help!

I started my class at 8am and I will be done with my very last class at 9:20pm tonight. I can hardly keep my eyes open. I think I might go to my car and take a quick nap. I have my next class at 11am. Any adice how to get though the rest of the day. By the way I have a test in my last class so I'm stressing about that too. Please help quickly I might go to sleep in my car for a lil bit.

My poor husband has just had a colon operation to heal an haemorroid and today started bleeding quite heavily again.
He was watching his diet very strictly but last sunday he had a lunch of junk old fried food at a Restaurant, I said to him not to eat it but because he knew the owner he felt embarrased to complain and ate it all. Could this have provoked a recurrence of the haemorroid? Thanks for advice

My cravings have gone down considerably, I really don't want to smoke, but my problem is that now I feel alot worse physically then before. I'm having trouble breathing, I feel some chest pain and I feel tingly in my chest and face. This is sometimes but the trouble breathing is pretty much all them time. Today I woke up and felt like I smoked 2 packs yesterday, just very crappy. Why is this, and is it normal, please help!!!

I thought I had PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). I had all the tests done. The nurse called me yesterday and said that everything came back fine but my testosterone levels are high. She scheduled me an appointment to go over it with my doctor next Friday. She said my doctor doesn't think it's PCOS. So what does this mean? What happens if I have high testosterone? No smartass answers please. I'm not turning into a man.
