I had two raw red spots that were painful when touched or during intercourse, but have now faded for the most part... could it have been something else?

depends where the spots are. could be a pimple, a cut, an ingrown hair. a number of things.

have you had unprotected sex recently? or even oral sex because herpes and other STI's and STD's can be passed through saliva (though not usually but possible)

since they are in your pubic region it could be.

Once you have been exposed to the virus through direct skin-to-skin contact, it can take anywhere from two to 20 days before your first episode of symptoms of genital herpes will occur. While the first outbreak of herpes is usually the worst one you will experience, as much as 60% of those infected with the virus will fail to notice any symptoms because the outbreak is so mild. Even if you do not have any symptoms, though, you can still pass on the virus to your sexual partners.

The most common sign of herpes is red, sensitive skin that develops sores or blisters (often referred to as herpes bumps). These lesions usually show up in and around the genital area, although female symptoms of herpes may cause these blisters to develop inside the vagina. Other signs and symptoms of genital herpes include:

* Swollen lymph glands in the groin
* Headaches
* Muscle aches
* Fever
* Lower back pain

In women, herpes symptoms can also include vaginal discharge and pain or a burning sensation when urinating. About 25% of women will develop meningitis as a complication of their first herpes outbreak while another 10% to 15% will have troubles urinating because of their herpes.

but go see your doctor as soon as possible. good luck

You'll know if you had herpes. Your first outbreak would be hell. You'll have blisters everywhere in the infected area, blisters will pop and the you will have raw skin on that area.Will be very painful. goes away in 2 to 3 weeks in most cases without leaving any scars. some signs consist of fever, chills, tingling feeling in infected area, very tired or sleepy, If all you had was 2 bumps, sounds more like ingrown hair or pimple. Best bet is to go to the doctor when It happens again because if it is herpes and you get a blood test when you have no outbreak your result will come out negative. Virus only shows on blood test when virus is active meaning having an outbreak. Good luck

I got clinically diagnosed with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about 4 years back, when I was still attending college and had a dumb one-night stand. I know a lot of girls say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and all of a sudden I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for my entire life. The worst part was feeling I could never date other men again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone who has sores around her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/mlrLP everything improved.

Not only was I able to eliminate all remnants of the herpes simplex virus from my system in less than 21 days, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just last week, in front of everybody in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This system provided the opportunity to be happy and experience real love again. Now I hope that I can help others by sharing this story.

sorry but a rash is not one of the first signs. first signs are flue like symptoms. then u might feel a warm but unpleasent tingleing sensation. then u would feel itchy and painful down there. then u break out in blisters or leigions (open sores). the first outbreak is usually the worst. the next one u may not get flue like symptoms but u would get all of the rest. herpes is a permanent virus but it can be controlled.
u should not have had sex if you have anything going on down there that isn't normal for u.
get checked out by a doctor or gynocologys.
could also bee genital warts.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.

Go to professional. If you do have herpes, you need to confront the person who gave it to you and get on medication. Plus, the next person you are involved with needs to know.
