No, they will only test for HIV if the patient asks, or if they feel there is reason to.
For example, if a nurse takes blood from a patient and then accidentally pokes herself with the needle while she is trying to put the cap on the needle. It's called an accidental needle stick and they will test the patients blood for HIV just in case. There are special needle stick kits that the pharmacy carries just for these incidents.
If a person wants to be tested for HIV then they need to specifically ask their doctor to test them for it.
Take care!

no - in almost every state, commonwealth and DC you need to sign off or ask to be tested for HIV?AIDS. the exception for this is when you donoate your blood - but in reality you actually gave your concent for that testing (as well as other blood borne infections) when you signed the paper.

if you are just going in for a specific illness, no they don't run an HIV panel, unless your illness could be linked to HIV.
and in that case, they have to have your signed written consent to do the test.

No only if they suspect that's why you are sick. If your were sick it would have developed into AID's and they would test specifically for that. Also they need your permission to test for anything.

No. You have to give them permission or you have to specifically ask them to check for it. They can not check your blood for it without your permission.
