I am 23 years old and have been wearing contact lenses and glasses since I was in first grade (so since I was 6). My contact lens prescription is currently a -8.00 in both eyes. I'm going for my annual exam tomorrow to see if they've changed. I was going to ask the doctor about Lasik while I was there but I figured I'd ask for some information on here first. Is my prescription easily correctable or is it too severe to get 20/20 vision from Lasik? Also, I was told I have blood vessels growing onto my cornea from wearing my contact lenses for too long (I did this as a kid; since I found out it is detrimental to my eyes I've only worn my contacts for probably 5 hours everyday tops). Will this cause a problem with the Lasik procedure?

uh well like a month ago i stopped taking a mood stabilizer(abilify) b/c of harsh side effects and didnt replace it because i pretty much tried everything i can for my age and nothings worked. now im jus on an anitdepressant (prozac) and i am having like extreme relapse of the bipolar disorder. i am in a mixed phase and i was wondering like if i would need to be in like a physciatric hospital or somthing b/c i sometimes want to overdose, cut, ect... but ive never done it so...

I have a good friend with no insurance who won't go to the doctor, and I was wondering if anyone had input or a site where I could find input for her? i thought the answer would be common, but i can't seem to find it in any articles on the internet. so, just out of pure curiosity, how DOES eyesight go bad? like, im pretty sure there's something that has to do with sitting too close to the tv or whatever, but what really happens? do the muscles get worn out or something? and is there no way to completely fix your eye without lasik/glasses/contacts? im just curious, since i knew i had 20/20 vision in the 5th grade but 4 years later...it's just reallly bad.

I am having the EMG test for carpal tunnel in one hand and wrist. Does this hurt? I am fine with needles but the electrical shocks do not sould too spiffy. Has anyone had this done in their hand? On a scale of 1-10 (7 being a bee sting) how bad does this test hurt? I thought it was a Nerve conduction test but they said EMG. A friend of mine said it was a ----.

my fiance came over last satrday (it's now monday) and i was basically masturbating him. if that makes any sense at all. but after i put my hands on his parts, i fingered myself. there was no C-U-M/wetness involved at all, but i'm kind of worried that i might be pregnant. i'm on low-ogestrel birth control & i have been for about a year. but i missed a pill on sunday which was september the 2nd. i took it as soon as i got my pills monday morning & continued taking them regularly. there was NO SEXUAL INTERCOURSE AT ALL & i didn't have sexual intercourse after i missed that pill. what is your perspective? pregnancy or paranoid?

my teeth are yellow.its so disgusting.its been like this for years i am not sure when they start becoming yellow.i have tried numerous of things and nothing seems to work.baking soda and peroxide whiting toothpastes and every thing.my mom won't let me get over the counter things like crest whitestrips.so does anyone know a good suggestion because i love to smile and i am starting to feel insecure.please help.thanks

I have been on birth control pills for 2 years. My boyfriend and I do not use condoms when we are having sex (both of us are positively clean), but the directions on the pills specifically state that a back up method is not neccessary (I am aware their effectiveness is 96% - 98.9%) I have also heard that the effectiveness can be as low as 87% for some people... and this worries me. I take the pill between 10-11 pm each day and if I happen to forget I ALWAYS take the missed pill as soon as I remember (often along with another that I have not missed) I have never missed more than 2 in a row and I have never not taken a pill at all (except the placebo types that you take while on your period. (again, the directions state to throw out the placebo pills if you miss one or two.)

im not sure if my friend was joking or not but the other day she was like "wow i have to stop cutting" and i looked at her arms and said oh yeah you do. there WERE marks on her arms, but i thought they were from her binders cuz we just put them in her locker.
after that she said "yeah this ones from like last week and this ones from like 3 days ago". that was like wednesday or thursday.
today she told me she cut herself again and she almost jumped off a bridge near her house.

now shes the type of person who would do something for attention. i told my other friend, and were going to try and talk to her. tonight were each talking to our moms. what should we say to her?

I am anemic, and I have been since birth. At my last physical It worsened, and during gym class there are instances where I get incredibly lightheaded (to the point of almost fainting), and my vision goes completely white and stays like that for 5 seconds at the least.

What's going on here?

Well I went to the gyno today because I had BV and wanted to get some medicine so it would go away. Well while she was looking I told her about how it sometimes would be sore on the right side of my vagina when I started to have sex. Not really that much pain but I have had it for a few months and its starting to get annoying, well she looked and found this blister/sore type thing and said it looked like I might have syphilis. The thing is, I have only had one sex partner and we've been together sexually for over year so why would I just now see this? And I have never noticed anything on him before and he has said that he has gotten tested for anything and come back fine. My doctor told me that from what I said it probably isnt syphilis but still is gonna take a test, and if its negative she'll just do a biopsy and told me not to worry. But I still am really scared. Could it just be a sore from having sex or something that never healed? Anyone ever had anything like this? Thanks

My primary care physician and cardiologist are scratching their heads over my condition. My pressure is ALWAYS around 160/90. They have tried almost every prescription to treat my high blood pressure. Right now I'm on Hyzaar in conjunction with Norvasc, both at the maximum dose and my pressure hasn't budged a millibar. I tried looking for info on uncontrolled hypertension on the Web but I only found vague answers. Maybe someone knows someone that had this. What did they do about it?
