I am 23 years old and have been wearing contact lenses and glasses since I was in first grade (so since I was 6). My contact lens prescription is currently a -8.00 in both eyes. I'm going for my annual exam tomorrow to see if they've changed. I was going to ask the doctor about Lasik while I was there but I figured I'd ask for some information on here first. Is my prescription easily correctable or is it too severe to get 20/20 vision from Lasik? Also, I was told I have blood vessels growing onto my cornea from wearing my contact lenses for too long (I did this as a kid; since I found out it is detrimental to my eyes I've only worn my contacts for probably 5 hours everyday tops). Will this cause a problem with the Lasik procedure?

i have -7.5 in both eyes, and i asked my doctor. she said that most likely i would still need glasses. it wouldn't fully restore my vision. seeing as that your eyes are worse, i would expect the same response, but ask away. i have the same exact problem with the blood vessels and other things. i feel your pain, but i'm not going to pay all that money for something that MIGHT not work. i'll wear contacts and glasses forever. i guess i'm not that trusting yet, with lasers aimed at my eyeballs.

My problem is pretty severe, too, and I was told that I could not be fully corrected either. However, the main reason I haven't gone for LASIK is my age. I'm over 40 and have been told that I will need reading glasses if I get it.

Subconjunctival hemorrhages are very normal, especially if you have had any kind of eye surgery. I had one after my LASIK. They can also happen for no reason at all, or after coughing, straining, and especially if you are on blood thinners. No need to worry, everyone gets them.
