I'd like to make a homemade mosquito repellent using citronella oil - lotion, candle, spray, etc.

I can’t give you a “recipe”. But, I know where you can get some all natural / organic bug repellant made with citronella and lemon grass (www.SANDYCREEKSOAP.etsy.com)
Probably CHEAPER ($4.99) than you could make it yourself...hope this helped.

when we were kids mum made a spray with dettol and baby oil,say a quarter cup of dettol to 2 cups baby oil, used it while camping and works

Citrus oils, lavender oils, garlic and thiamine supplements. The garlic is for eating, not for spreading on you. Also, get rid of any standing water in your yard.

I just rub bounce fabric softener sheets all over and stuff a few in my clothes, haven't been bitten in years.
