My friend has just given me a giant marrow from her garden which is longer than my arm!

Does anyone have any interesting ideas on how to cook it? I'd like to use it as a main ingredient so that I can get rid of it before it goes bad.

I'm cooking for myself and two others so can anyone suggest any good vegan recipes? Thanks.

I am going to this big block party and I am incharge of the chicken and pork chops. The pork chops are totally done, But I have less than 5 hours to cook 50 pieces of chicken. It has been in the oven for about an hour and it is still all raw. Also what vegetables should I bring? Thanks!

I'm a vegetarian, and my stepsister recently brought to my attention that she believes I should eat soy products very sparingly. She said that soy products can cause skin problems (acne, etc), over-production of estrogen, as well as other problems. Who agrees with my stepsister, and who believes that soy is not problematic to eat?

I have been doing a lot of research and I do believe the raw food diet is the healthiest diet. I have decided to just stick with the raw food diet. I mean, I still want to do a lot of juicing, but not exclusively. I want to include whole raw fruits and vegetables in my diet as well. I think this diet is the original diet of humans before we became corrupt and started eating the corpses of other beings (gross!).

I've noticed that many Asian restaurants we frequent list items in their vegetarians section that contain fish/chicken broth and sauces in alot of the items.

Example: We go to a Vietnamese Restaurant, and the other day we got an eggplant dish with rice. I immediately thought that has chicken broth! (you know you can tell by the texture and color) . When we inquired it indeed did, but had no mention of it on the menu. We looked at some other items in the veg section that did indeed say chicken broth. We were already used to seeing many with fish sauce , so it wasn't that terribly shocking. I'm just curious as to why, opening a restaurant in America, some places are so naive to our concept of veg*nism . I understand the differences in cultures, I just think its odd to be so careless, especially considering those with allergies..ie..eggs in meals without it saying such!!

Can anyone enlighten me? And while we are at it, do you have any experiences to share regarding this subject?

Ok, so I'm 14 (almost 15) and weigh 190 (apprx.) and am 5'8" I want to lose weight and yes, i have been eating a lot, but really, meat is my downfall, and i'm not getting enough fruits and vegetables. If I go vegetarian and stay on my 1 hour a day (for 5 days out of the week) exercise regime, will i look better (like will it actually look like I lost weight?) .. I want to look good, feel good, and do it alllll without taking anything artificial or something like a pill and I've always wondered about going vegetarian. I'm thinking lacto-ovo, but with non-fat milk or soy milk.

Also, is there anything I can do to cut my cravings of meat and bread? It's really hard to resist, especially after a workout. What should I do?

I can't really understand why some people have an ethical problem with consuming honey. The bees don't seem to have anything better to do and they make a lot more than they need themselves. Isn't refusing to eat honey based on a Walt Disney sort of mentality where busy bees get to read a good book instead of collecting nectar?

I just recently became a vegetarian, and I've been having mad cravings for shakes. Do they add any animal products? Also, what about Jack-In-The-Box, Burger King, Wendy's, and Dairy Queen.

Ogre: I'm Thunk, Thunk hungry. *Takes large turkey leg from lunch pale*

Vegan: Is that meat? Animals are living creatures no different than you or me.

Ogre: This turkey, turkey different from Ogre.

Vegan: No turkey is a child of the great earth consciousness. It is wrong to eat meet!

Ogre: Don't break the peace circle!

Vegan: No that turkey was a living being, a person, it had emotions, it could feel pain! It is wrong to eat sentient beings you evil merciless savages! Your are evil! An evil Ogre! You killed that poor turkey and are now feeding upon it's flesh without any remorse whatsoever! How can you live with yourself?! I curse you and hope your loin cloth will give you a rash!!!!

Ogre: It already did.

Vegan: Men weren't meant to eat meat, only salads and humus! How dare you devour the flesh of a living creature?! I will sue you and everyone you know! What do you have to say about that?!

is it vegan?

First of all this is not to start some big argument. And I'm not trying to offend anyone here, because a lot of people might take it that way.
As someone who eats meat but all the same love animals (and yes, that is possible- some people would argue with this), I'm just trying to understand Vegan reasons.

Some things I am extremely against- fur, killing for only a few parts, some circuses and other performances and how they treat their animals, etc.

But why do some vegans think it's wrong to use some animal products, mainly food?
After all, many animals (aside from humans) will kill and eat prey. We do not view this as wrong, so I'm curious as to why is it wrong for us to eat meat?

And there are other things that I have heard not necessarily from vegans but big-time animal activist. One said that neutering pets and riding horses was wrong. And another said owning pets was wrong! Does anyone else feel this way? Why?

Once again I’m not trying to offend anyone.

I am having several guests over for dinner in a few days and one of them is a vegetarian (no meat, eats dairy and eggs). I want to make her feel comfortable and have plenty of things to eat. I know the obvious, such as salad and vegetable side dishes.

I would like some ideas for a main dish as well. However, it's very confusing. She says she can't eat cheese (rennet sp?) or gelatin.

Since it's more confusing than just not serving her a meat main dish, I would like help from other vegetarians on ideas. I want to fix her something she can eat, but I am not entirely clear on what is and is not vegetarian. I thought Jello was vegetarian.

I would appreciate any ideas or links to ideas or resources so that she does not feel left out. Thanks.

So I'm just curious why you became a vegetarian/vegan and how strict is your diet? How long have you been a veg*n? Are you an animal rights activist? Do people like parents, friends, coworkers support your decision to go veg? I'm just curious, I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian myself and went veg cuz of the way animals are treated in slaughterhouses.

How is it possible to watch a video about factory farming and then still eat meat? Do people not have any feelings for animals whatsoever? I just don't see how they can keep on eating meat when they know it is wrong.
