ovo vegetarians do, they eat the eggs of animals. It's the other types of vegetarians, like vegans, that do not.

I think everyone is missing the point...
It's not a matter of what they will or will not eat...it's why. Not only do we believe that it's wrong to kill animals, it's also wrong to raise them for killing, raise them for egg or milk production, or using genetically enhanced hormones to help with any of the above.
I have never been faced with the question, but I wouldn't eat caviar. You don't have to kill the fish to get caviar. Fish lay eggs. But, the industry does kill them because it's the easiest way to 'harvest' all the eggs together, maximizing profits. But the point of killing aside, these fish are raised in cramped conditions in a hatchery then scooped out with nets. Not very natural, not very appealing, and specifics of types of vegetarian aside, not something that I want to contribute to.

Well, caviar is *technically* eggs, but unlike chicken eggs, you must kill and cut open the fish to get caviar. So vegetarians who do not eat animal meat because they do not want to kill animals would not eat caviar.

Fish don't lay eggs like hens do. In order to get caviar you need to kill the fish. So vegetarians don't eat caviar. Pesco-vegetarians might but smart vegetarians know that fish are animals.

Probably not. But being fish eggs, a vegetarian could eat caviar and still be a vegetarian.

I wouldn't, but it's an egg and some vegetarians eat eggs.
PS: Hmm, I didn't know it was necessary to cut open the fish to get caviar. If that's true, that would change my answer.
