Vegetarian & Vegan - August 2007

I am just wondering. My friend who is vegetarian is VERY, umm... Up tight about it. That probably isn't the right fraze. She is always checking the ingredients in food and stuff. So is it possible to be vegetarian without being paranoid about it? Er. that probably isn't the right word either. Anyways if you get what I'm asking, let me know! Thanks.

Hello. This has been bothering me REALLY bad. My friend thinks she is a vegetarian even though she eats chicken. So i asked my other friend lauren if she could be a vegetarian if she eats chicken and she said no. I totally believe lauren with the no because she is one. And has been for 4 years. I trust her with that. But my friend just won't believe me so i need proof. Is it true that you cant be? Thanx for taking your time with this.
All i trually need to know is...
CAN YOU BE A VEGETARIAN IF YOU EAT CHICKEN?

Some Vegans are so thin and seem tired out while others are fit and well. Must mean that some do not eat the way they ought to. Like, the Hallelujah Diet which seems to be only salads and fruit. 80% raw 20% cooked. What is a good balanced vegan diet?

To all the vegans and vegetarians: Do you try to get people to be veg*n? Why or why not? and how far do you go, like forcing people to watch peta videos and ranting about the mistreatment of animals, or just casually talking about with someone whos interested?

And to meat eaters: Does it make you mad when vegans tell you about why they dont eat meat or try to "convert" you?

Just curious. (:

I loved milk but I can't drink it for 2 reasons. 1 being it makes me sick, 2 being that I'm a vegan now. So I'm looking for something that taste as close to milk as possible. Thanks

I am a vegetarian and my parents say that gelatin is an animal product so I'd like to know what it is so that I can stop eating marshmallow, jello, jelly, and stuff. I would also like a list of all of the foods with gelatin.

A friend of mine told me it is, but in Genesis 9:3 it says" Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things."

So is it biblically wrong to eat meat?

P.S I hope this is the right section to post this in. If it isn't, let me know and I will move it.

when almost everyone knows that meat is unhealthy? If humans had been meant to eat meat, they would have had molars for tearing into flesh like carnivorous animals.

I'm a meat eater but i respect everyone's right to eat what they want. Why are some people worried about the eating habits of others? Why some people have hatred for other people just b/c their eating habits are different from theirs? I think it's so ridiculous to not like someone just b/c they eat meat or they don't eat meat. They are way more important things in this world to worry about than about someone's eating habits.

I am sure there is a famous exception to this & some guy who only eats berries will tell me about it.

But generally speaking the ones I have met all look very sickly. Sort of pale/yellow skin tones. Malnourished. Lack of muscle mass. Frequently sick.

If "eating healthy" fails to produce desirable results then why continue?

Am I getting enough protein~?
I am thinking of turning vegetarian, and the websites say to combine certain foods to get adequate protein. My bodybuild requires 70 grams of protein, milk contains 3.3 grams of protein per 100 mililitres ( 3.4 fl.oz ), would I be getting enough protein by drinking 2.1 litres of milk per day (71.4 fluid ounces), I am only using this as an example, I wouldn't really live off milk, yoghurts are also high in protein, as are some cereals, rice, tofu, beans, and eggs. I am just curious if you can simply add up the protein values on the box and see how much protein that I am taking in, or do I have to eat certain foods in order for the protein to take effect.
Thanks in advance to everyone who takes their time to answer this ~~~

you get so enthralled with this no meet stuff you overlook all the unhealthy stuff you can get in a vegan diet .soy is inherantly bad for you.[find research online ] some food adatives used in snack chips actually comes from an extract of dried fish heads and is labeled as natural [ sodium cassinate find on doritos snacks] some gelatins are not all from red seaweed either .rennit used in cheese is not allways from veggi sources , if you truly want the VEGAN lifestyle you must spend exhaustive time reasarching every food ingrediant their is ,or don`t call yourself vegan. also a note some Geneticaly modified veggies contain fish DNA [ reasearch Monsanto for GMO foods] please think ? and no i don`t care what foods you eat...

I don't know if it is true or not, but a British Medical Journal reported that children with higher IQs tend to go on to become vegetarian. Does that mean that children with lower IQs eat meat?

This is pretty much all the proof we need. It is obvious that eating meat is something we need to put behind us. Society needs to switch over to a vegetarian diet so we can have a more civil society.

People seem to have lots of things against PETA...
I mean I dont get it,even some vegans dont support it.
I understand that they have some disturbing videos and things, but is there really any other way to get peoles attention(The only thing I really thing has gone too far is when they went to schools telling six year old kids 'your momy kills animals')?

What did they do thats so wrong?
Im new to the whole thing so I dont really understand.

My intention is the eightfold path. the problem is my family is fine with being vegetarian except for my brother and my grandpa. Besides tofu, where else can I find a high source of protein, and any type of vitamin or anything that i need to function the same as eating meat?

My family also sometimes goes out and eat. If I was to eat a buffet or a chinese or vietnamese restaraunt (what I normally go to) what things can I eat?

First of all, I dont believe eating anything that imitates meat like morning stars.

Im also used to chinese cooking but I currently prefer american.

to clarify my question, What vegetarian foods have the same health benefits as meat besides eggs, milk...?

without meat, rocky balboa would have nothing to train with. his life was a one in a million shot. and youd take that away from him? he even beat the commies in rocky IV.
God bless him

....and speaking of God, meat was good enough for Jesus. its pretty much a sin to refuse it.

so now for my question, (since that is after all, what i wasted my 5 points for) are there any delicious foods i left out?

For about a month now I have not been able to eat meat. I don't get sick from it, I just can't eat it. When I take a bite, it tastes as if it were just cut off the animal. I can't take the taste. I love meat though, I just don't understand why I can't eat it. Can anyone please help me figure out why this is happening?

Does it have any actual chicken in or anything? It's really the only thing I miss from my pre-vegetarian days, but I don't want to eat it if a chicken was killed in the process.
