Join the club. That comes along with being veggie. Sorry. I know it can be tough. When they make fun of you think of how much you are helping the animals. Think of the animals. Whatever you do try to not get mad. They won't listen to your reasoning if you are angry. Trust me. The only thing that really helps is to not bring up the fact you are veggie. If they bring it up by all means tell them every last reason you can for why you are veggie. If you don't bring it up the less likely you are to feel this way again untill you can cope with the fact that this comes with the territory. You are going against the crowd. Anytime anyone goes against the flow they will have some kind of resistance. Veggie resistance is mean hurtful comments 90% of the time. Sorry. It will get easier to deal with time. Soon you will no longer feel sad or hurt you will just laugh. Wait till you hear some of the good remarks like me such as carrots have feelings or cow will take over the whole world if we didn't eat them. It will get easier and funnier.

Yeah, it happens to me too. Most of the people are my friends/family, and are just teasing, so I don't mind. Mostly what I hate is when people just stare at me like I'm crazy and ask why in the world would I be a vegetarian. One of the worst (and most awkward) of these times was when I was with my friend and her family eating dinner at her grandmothers house, and her grandmother(who is crazy-religious) said, "God put animals on this earth for us to eat, why won't you eat them?" I just sort-of laughed while my friend tried to explain my reasons to her grandmother.
But, back on topic, people will laugh at you and tease you. Since helping animal sis something you care about, you gotta learn to laugh it off, and tell people when they go to far. Or have a snappy comeback ready.

at least you are the better person in this situation. think of it like that. they're laughing because they're illiterate and don't understand where you're coming from. ignorance does that to people. They feel threatened simply because they are brainwashed by their parents and the way they grew up and they refuse to educate themselves and be open minded.

the ironic thing is they're the morons because they don't know what meat does to the body...they just prefer taste over their health. selfishly care about taste and don't care about their health, the environment or killing and eating innocent animals. let them have fun while dying of heart disease.

you're the one with a brain not them, so you should be thankful and just ignore them. like I said you are being the better person, don't forget that.

I've been a vegetarian for many years and I know exactly what you mean. Unfortunately, some people have a tendency to ridicule those whose ideas aren't exactly mainstream. I think that the best you can do is arm yourself with facts, and if anyone tries to sway you to his/her way of thinking, you can give him/her the facts. That's not to say that it would change the other person's mind, but you would be asserting yourself, and you yourself would feel good about that.

no longer something relatively differences, one could flow by way of the meals pyramid. merely consume the different issues interior the "intense protein" team that are no longer meat, like eggs (in case you opt directly to consume eggs), nuts, seeds, legumes, beans, soy. consume total grains too, this might upload greater advantageous protein and supplements, and be certain you consume darkish leafy vegetables each and every day to insure sufficient iron (and get sufficient nutrition c, should not be a situation however, to help soak up the iron). there is no longer one element in meat which you will no longer get merely as actually from a lacto-ovo vegetarian weight loss plan.

Realize you are not Main Stream! They will always be people who sneer at those you are "different" in any way. Sad thing is most don't realize they are such Bigots.
Yoy can not let them stop you from your path, your beliefs are just as validied as theirs. Do not be like them, respect their rights even if they are not decent enough to do the same.
Grow a tougher skin.

LAUGH! Do it with a smile!!! When they say something stupid, just laugh. Don't do it at them, or even in their general direction. Completely ignore them with your body language but make sure they are aware that you think what they are saying is funny. If they call on the phone and say something about it, LAUGH! =)

I don't know what is wrong with them, but if you act like a happy person that is confident in her choices, they will probably not get their childish kicks out of opening their ignorant mouths. Their lack of respect is FUNNY. How can someone be so dumb and rude? It's HILARIOUS. =)

YOU ARE RIGHT AND THEY ARE WRONG. Not because they eat meat, but because they can't let you be different and make your own choices even though you are making a choice of compassion and wisdom. Keep your chin up and keep your face bright and smiling and they can't touch you.

You don't need help. If you need a confidence boost, then ask yourself, "Am I a bad person because I'm a vegetarian?"
If your answer is "NO", then stand up for what you believe in and let them laugh...they don't sign your paycheck, they don't clothe you.....they don't matter.
Anyway, if you'd give up being a vegetarian just to get the laughter to stop....then you're not a very convincing vegetarian.
I, am not a vegetarian, and I hold no grudges against you.
