I am not a vegetarian but I am interested in going on a vegetarian detox diet.
I am a chef so I know how to make a number of vegetarian dishes and I also know the values of certain vegetables.
I was wondering if anyone has a tried and true vegetarian detox plan that that has worked for them.

Because I heard that a lot of vegetarians are really skinny and gawky looking. Did any of you lose any weight? If so, was it a lot?

I have been living the vegetarian lifestyle for the past week, and I don't think I have ever been so hungry in my life. I find that I am eating a lot of things that I normally wouldn't eat just to not be hungry, like baked potatos. I did the vegetarian lifestyle for a couple of reasons, but I don't think I can keep it up if I have to keep going to be hungry. Is there anything that is healthier and can keep me satisfied?

I have never had a turnip. What does it taste most like in the veggie family? I know it is a root, so I'm assuming it is like potato. Are turnips healthy options or should they been eaten in moderation like white potatoes?

Any good and easy recipe ideas? I also need to know how to prepare the turnip itself.

I recently read that organic farmers may not give medicine to animals who are suffering because the farmer can get a higher price for their meat and milk if the animals retain organic status. Studies have found that up to one-third of pigs on some organic farms are suffering from untreated infections, and reports also state that organic pigs often suffer from internal and external parasites, which could be passed on to the people who eat them. Organic chickens on some farms suffer from higher mortality rates than drugged chickens because extremely crowded and filthy housing conditions can lead to parasites and cannibalism. When the udders of cows on organic dairy farms become infected from frequent milkings, many farmers don’t give the cows medicine because then their milk would lose the organic label, which allows the product to be sold at a higher price...
So my question is, do you still feel good about eating organic or has this changed your mind?

I live a mostly vegetarian lifestyle (by mostly I mean that I DO eat dairy, eggs, honey, fish--but NO beef, pork, chicken or other meats). I noticed that Yoplait yogurt contains "Kosher" gelatin. I have heard that Kosher gelatin comes from fish rather than from cows or pigs like regular gelatin. Is this true?

Six 5.5 oz cans for $2.99 or more - Are they crazy? It's main ingredient is Tomato Juice which they sell for 99 cents for a 46 oz can. I really think they could use a little 5 1/2 oz. competition.

I am a vegetarian because, meat is bad for you, ALL of it, but I do eat fish, and sometimes shrimp, so what is wrong with fish, is it the same a meat? If it is and can be proven I won't eat it anymore, so sound convencing.

All these meat eaters are saying vegetarians are unhealthy and gross. I'm 15, and on June 5th, I will have been a vegetarian for one year, and you know they're wrong.

I have been sick with a cold once, that I got from my boyfriend. This was over 3 months ago. The only sickness I have now is kidney infections because I have reflex of the urinary tract (which is like acid reflex but in the lower regions.) And my doctors are working on fixing it.

So, I don't know, maybe I'm just lucky. But I can breath better, and run more and faster, and play for hours and not get tired. I'm more healthy without meat, so my question is why do meat eaters say that and do any vegetarians/vegans know what I'm talking about?

Good day everyone =]

i know you aren't allowed dairy or eggs, but you know stuff that aren't as easy to spot. as in when i turned vegetarian i had no idea gelatin was made from bones (or something) so that type of thing except for vegans. i hope i made this question clear enough, thanks.

Sodium Caseinate. I suppose this question is for Vegans, and Vegitarians that are against the consumption of dairy products. from what I know about this product, it is a high-quality milk protein product. But, due to the way that it is processed, the FDA has deemed it non-dairy, although it is a milk derivative. It is mainly used in non-dairy coffee creamer. So, do any of you use non-dairy coffee creamer, and do any of you already know about this product. And, I guess, my main question is, if so, are you ok with it?

I put them in a container in the fridge. I'm the only one who likes them so it takes me awhile to eat them all. I even mash them up and add them to my sandwiches but it's hard to go through a whole large can of them.

A few questions for the many meat eaters who like to visit the Vegetarian & Vegan forum:

1. Why do YOU think that vegetarians and vegans get so upset about meat?

2. Is there anything about meat (where it comes from, etc.) that upsets you?

3. Why do you eat meat?

Be honest, not ignorant...
