It's excellent, especially if you eat loads of fresh fruit and vegetables, and very important, tofu and soy products to supply protein. I've been vegetarian for 10 years and people estimate my age about 15 years younger.
It's also better for the environment, and of course, for the animals! Go veg, by all means...
Veggie meals can be VERY tasty. Just think of the variety of vegetables, the colours and flavours that you can mix in imaginative ways. It doesn't taste like cardboard to me!

I do get tired of all these vegetarians who insist that a veggie meal is better for you. It isn't. People become vegetarians because they don't want to eat animals - that's it, period. The rest if brainwashing. Saying that, many vegetarians are very concerned about the food they eat, which is as it should be. Unless you're my niece who thinks that a healthy vegetarian meal consists of chocolate and cheese.
We should all eat more vegetables - look up the food pyramid. There are alternatives to meat and some people do enjoy eating them. The key is to have a balance.

It's good for you as long as you replace the protein that you don't get from red meat.
It is very important to let your doctor know if you're a vegetarian, because you can become anemic (can be fatal), fatigue, depressed, or malnutrition.
The doctor can take blood tests to make sure that your doing it right!
Somewhere I heard that vegetarians get a rough "leather like" appearance to their skin, mostly noticeable in the face.
Definitely talk to your doctor or nutritionist (best bet) to make sure your getting the "right" kind of vegetarian diet.
Note:
One meal is actually good for us. It takes alot of work for our bodies to digest meats.

It is not better or worse, based on its vegetarian-ism. What determines the worth of the meal is the balance of many things. Vitamines, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, fats, and let's not forget flavor. What good's any meal if it tastes like cardboard?

Its O.K. if the vegetarian meal contains egg or dairy product, but if it doesn't you run a risk of missing a particalar Amino Acid. Vegans have to make sure to find ways to acquire this amino acid, but they were alway allusive to me when I ask how. Eating small quanities of meat is good for you, because it's an easy way to get certain nutrients. Unfortunately, here in America, we eat way too much meat. It is true that it is environmentally beneficial to eat more vegetables, but the damage they are speaking of is from factory farms, but not from traditional ranches. We don't compete for foods with ranch cows (unless you consider eating weed and grass acceptable) and ranches don't generate the huge amount of waste as factory farms. Basically, eat a balance meal, but cut back in the meats.

Very good, meat eater has an intestine three times it body length and human's intestines is six times our body length which is not constructed for meat intake because it will release toxin and poison as it travel along the intestines before the exit.Go back to nature, save the earth and lives by being a vegetarian, you will be younger, stronger in mind and body, and best of all you are a friend and liberator of the animals. For healthy food, check this out-http://govege.com/vegetarian101.asp

Is the vegetarian meal varied and with balanced nutrients? Your question is too vague.

Eat Greenly, don't eat meat because you don't need it. You can change your metabolism by practice , you then become like the horse who never eat meat. It's possible, but your desire is your enemy when you obey it, your friend when you coldly say no to it
Just try on yourself, you will discover the truth, then you will teach us. But your selfishness may worry you a lot, you will be very angry if other don't become perfect when you teach them.
