For a female vegetarian to get enough iron in her diet?

Most Veggies I know take suppliments or are mildly anemic - 'cos they are not getting full nutrition from their diet.

We are designed as Omnivores not Giraffes Horses or Cows. You know Hunter Gatherers with emphasis on HUNTER. The facts are if you go veggie you have to take these additives to your diet in order to get the nutrition you are MISSING by not eating meat/fish/ eggs........Just respect what you eat - respect the animal that has been killed so you can live - it IS Natural and it IS Natures way -

Veggie is an artificial envelope that relies on interesting fruit being flown around the world - so PC veggies don't get bored of eating sprouts - thanks for helping in keeping our planet warm eh!!!!

Firstly, I know I'm going to sound ignorant here, especially to those of you who have been vegetarian for long periods of time.

I have always loved animals & really wanted to be a vegetarian since the age of 15 (five years ago) However, I took glandular fever & became run down, suffered from chronic exhaustian etc. and since then I've focused on building myself up. However, it's came to the point in my life where I don't feel comfortable eating meat any more.

I'm into my fifth day of not eating meat now & I've had my brother (a junior doctor) and my parents questioning my decision b/c of health reasons. They maintain it is impossible to replace the vitamins, minerals etc. in meat with any other types of food. I know they are only concerned about my health and I've always been naturally slim & pale any way. As well as that my uncle was told by doctors he only survived the amount of blood he lost in a car accident because he ate a great deal of red meat.

Any advice?

I've noticed that many Martial artist prefer that people eat meat. Meat makes me tired when I fight. But I need alot of leg strength. lots and lots of protein.

Is it that they don't like the taste of meat or do they just want to be healthy? Me myself, I only eat corn peas and potatoe but no other vegetables because they taste bad to me. Onions are the worst for me.

When they eat fish?
Fish were alive, they breathed, have eyes, ate things.

Therefore in my eyes, they are not vegetarians.

I figured that this would be the best place to ask if there are solid reasons why being a vegetarian could be healthier for you (still egg and milk, just no meat)? I have vegetarian/vegan friends who say that it is, but I've never been sure why. And then, how do you make sure you get all of the protein you need?
I ask because I've played with the idea of letting off meat (for several reasons), but I'd like to know a little bit more about the lifestyle change involved.
