Lacto-ovo vegetarians don't eat meat because meat is the gruesome carcass of a murdered sentient being, i.e., the cousin of cannibalism. They do eat milk and egg products because those things are not gained by murdering an animal, but by merely squeezing an animal's mammary or raiding its nest for unfertilized embryos. Milk and egg products necessitate the exploitation and trickery of animals, fine, and it's a little wrong of us, a little embarrassing even. But it's a qualitative GALAXY away from murdering animals. Vegans will protest that the milk and egg factories are also cruel, but they don't seem to have their priorities straight. Stopping the murder is paramount, and once that's accomplished then start thinking about making the animals more comfortable...but at least vegans aren't those morally twisted activists who campaign for kinder slaughterhouses.

Lacto ovo in Latin means milk and eggs. The lacto-ovo vegetarian will eat some dairy products and Vegan is strictly no meat or dairy.

L-O Veg still eat eggs and drink milk products (and cheese, yogurt)
Vegans don't eat eggs or drink milk, and they tend to stay away from anything that has animal products in it (some oils use animal products).

What's with the sudden influx of people using the term "vegan vegetarian"? It's kind of redundant...
