Refrigeration. But, then you have another problem: the skins turn black. Now just the skins are affected. The banana is still good, but the appearance is off-putting.

Never keep them with other fruit such as apples which will increase the ripening process. Keep them seperate and in the open air. In a bag is worse as the fumes will be trapped and increase ripening.
I agree, the fridge is good and does turn skin black.
I just buy very ripe discount organic bananas, peel them, put into ziplock bags, and into the freezer they go. My daughter loves to snack on them, and they're quick to thaw for baking.

There aren't too many ways since they do actually go bad. One way is to buy a few at a time so you don't have to waste all your money on banana's.
If you like to cook and the banana's are really ripe, you can make a nice banana bread or banana nut bread.

Banana's dont ripen interior the refrigerator. they're greater effective omitted in a cabinet or a fruit bowl. there is no longer something incorrect with refrigerating them tho. It wont injury them in any way. For some reason nonetheless the SKINS ripen speedier whilst they're interior the refrigerator. no longer the fruit on the interior. If u like them interior the refrigerator (i do too) positioned them in there. yet whilst the skins are black it doesnt mean they're over ripe or going rotten. in simple terms verify u consume them interior in simple terms over each week of putting them interior the refrigerator.

There's really nothing you can do. Well, unless you want to make banana bread out of ripened bananas. That's what I'd do, it's yummy!

I only buy as many as we will eat in 3 days. So I'm buying bananas every few day but we always have fresh ones in the house.
You can always peel them, cut them into slices, put them in a ziplock/ziptop bag then freeze. They're great for smoothies, you can still use them for making pancakes or baking, too. They last about 6 months in the freezer without getting weird or turning color.

Buy them as green as possible
Keep them in a cool, BUT NOT COLD, place
if possible, hang them; if they touch each other, they can bruise
