This tired question is very typical of meat-eaters who are finally feeling some guilt. It is a way of distracting themselves from the fact that animals do experience suffering - real tangible suffering. Saying that "plants are alive too" is just a way to write off vegetarianism by complicating it and trying to convince yourself it's too hard to stop eating meat. It's not. Animals writhe and SCREAM in pain, just as humans do.
Many vegans/vegetarians have stopped using animal products because they've realized that the killing of an animal is often the least of its suffering. The conditions in which these animals are forced to live (never seeing sunlight, confined in spaces so small they can't turn around - for their entire lives) is so deplorable that we can't help but stop supporting those industries. Even people who love meat stop buying it for these reasons.
Please watch the short video Meet Your Meat and think about how these animals' entire lives, not just their deaths, are filled with very real pain. Here is a link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyqvdwehh... or look it up online.
Keep your mind open, friend! Start asking some REAL questions, like "Why do I feel guilty around vegetarians?".

Firstly, Vegetarians dont think they are not cruel because they dont kill animals. There are cruel vegetarians too (though they dont kill animals). It is question of the need to kill that is the issue.
But the second part is right, Non-veg are cruel because they kill animals to satisfy their physical need (hunger) which can be easily met with many other means.
We need to understand that the vegetables that are consumed are not necessarily by taking out the life of the plants. Most of them are extracted and the plants continue to nourish further. In fact, it meets their requirement - it is worse for the plants if they are not harvested. It is the purpose of the plants to flower/fruit and then get harvested for their growth and multiplication. Most importantly, when the benefits of being a veggie is clear, it makes it even more cruel to kill animals.

Of course vegetables are alive, but they do not feel, or suffer. How can you be cruel to a thing that does not experience? How can a being be the target of cruelty if that being does not feel pain or fear? "Cruelty" requires that the target of the cruelty can feel. "Cruel" is defined as "willfully or knowingly causing pain or distress to others." http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cruel By definition then you cannot be "cruel" to something that does not experience pain or distress.
By the way, a vegetarian would actually be less "cruel" to plants than a non-veg (if you could in fact be cruel to plants). The animals that the non-veg eats require many plants. If you count all the plants that are fed to the cow that you eat, the non-veg actually would be responsible for killing more plants than the vegetarian. (see PsychoCol...'s excellent answer) But like I said, speaking of "cruelty" to organisms that cannot feel is like speaking of the right to vote for organisms that cannot comprehend what it means to vote (babies, dogs, etc.)

Mostly vegatables never stimulating sexy or cruel behaviour.Basically non-veg items are from dead animals .People are cruelly killing the animals and eat their flesh. In Stoneage period the people are under civilizised. They didnt know what to eat or leave. But now a days people are well educated and civilizised.Better to love the animals rather than eating.

Good question. I'm a vegetarian and I don't eat meat because I think animals getting killed for meat is like a bambi film. Upsetting.
I don't hate people who eat meat because millons of years ago the human jaws were made to grind on flesh because if they didn't eat they would die. I don't hate people who eat flesh I just don't eat it. Thats the way I'am.
About the vegetables, It's just a plant and plants are not living things.
Vegetables and fruit are okay.
If some of you people are eating meat it's okay but don't eat veal. Thats a animal that suffers.

Excellent question.
Plants are not killed when vegetables are plucked.
Plants are not killed when grain is picked from a dead plant.
Can you compare that with Killian one or more animals for a single meal?
Answer is obvious but a person who considers satisfaction of his/her own test buds more important than other creatures' lives will keep denying it.
Being Vegetarian is not easy. It requires discipline, strength and determination too besides passion and kindness.

Vegetarians think that they are great coz even the hindu gods don't eat non-veg and those who are vegetarians may be thinking that they are like hindu gods and following them..
There is no harm in eating non-veg coz they too have proteins and other nutritions which we need for our growth.

Assume for one minute vegetables DO feel pain.
Oh no! Vegetables feel pain! Guess we better grow ten times more vegetables than we need and feed them to the animals. Then we'll eat the animals.
Because a human eating one vegetable is worse than an animal eating ten vegetables, right?

Why do stoopid meaties feel the need to ask this tired old question over and over and over and over.........!!?? You know that killing an animal and slicing it up covering the abatoir floor in blood, entrails, snot and faeces whilst trying not to barf as a fetid decaying meat smell like an unwashed kippers's * fills the air is not the same as picking fruits or veg and gently rinsing them !!!! Enjoy your rare rump steak, knowing that they may not have removed all the poop!!
