...Those who refrain from milk or milk products. I'm not sure if it's all just lactose intolerence that's behind their argument.

And do they let their kids drink milk? To what age?

I've been told something about green potatos several times, but I think it's a wives tale and I've been hearing it since I was little when my parents used to make me scrub spuds for supper. I really want to know the actual scientific reason for why some potatos have green skins but ........ the first person who answers with the same story I've been hearing for years gets the 10 points (wives tale or not)

I first felt that I did not want to eat meat when I was very small at age 5.

My family were big meat eaters. My family supported it and were very nice and would make veggie meals. What made me stop? I remember seeing all the veins in my chicken wing and seeing some veins in my arm. It was the cincher.

Then I ate meat again, I remember at age 10 because my teachers were concerned at school and they made a big to-do. I never liked it and could only eat it when it was unrecognizable. Never from a bone.

But I stopped again at 15 to 30.

Anyway, those are the nitty gritty details. I haven't had meat in 15 years. What about you?

I was kind of wondering if anyone has a similar experience.

Thanks and take care.

OKay so I have been contemplating becoming a vegetarian for many reasons. I finall did it and my family does not support it- they think that I am going through a phase- but I really want to do this and the right way. Before when I just didn't eat a lot of meat I became anemic and sick. I need advice on what multi vitamins to take and help making a good diet to keep healthy. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
Oh and how to cook tofu- I don't really like it but if you have any tips to make it taste better that would be great.

Yesterday, I saw an article on the front page of Yahoo and the writer said that vegetarians don't get enough zinc. And that zinc is essential for good skin. Yet you can get zinc from lentils. What is she talking about? I'm a vegetarian and my skin looks good.

Okay, first of all, Im doing this for my personal health... No, I dont really care for the animals and feel no remorse whenever I eat a steak... but man, going veg is being hard for me. I dont plan going full veg, but to reduce my meat consumption at least 75% less. The thing is, I have heard that some vegetarians dont eat "quimically enhanced" groceries, if so, where do you get your vegetables and stuff? How did your body react to the transition?

Alright -- it was my first time eating Tofu.
I just did it up with a little seasoning and all.

Then, I had MAJOR diarrhea. Sound nasty? It was... ewww.
This is my first time eating it, and my mother is all freaked out now.

Is this normal?

PS Im 13, 5"2, and weigh 100lbs. If it matters ;)

I was thinking about going vegetarian. I can think of a million reasons to do it, but I have some questions. I have heard that when you stop eating meat it makes you gain weight. I am alsp wondering what kind of nutrients I will be missing out on, and what I can replace them with. If anyone is a strict vegetarian could you please help me get into this? Thank you.

I always feel like such a hypocrite, saying what I learned from PETA or whoever and then hearing that whatever I said isn't true, is worst case scenario, etc. But it's so hard to explain why you have a good point in being vegan when you have no support that you know is true. So anything that anyone knows, any facts, links, whatever, that could be of help, please post! I don't care if it's biased against or for vegetarianism, but unbiased is best (of course). Thanks!
