Becoming vegetarian was the best thing I ever did for my skin! I had been battling adult acne for many years, but pimples almost never appear on my face now, since I turned vegetarian three years ago. There is truth to what our mothers and grandmother said about eating more fruit and vegetables!
A balanced vegetarian diet can provide all the nutrients your body needs. If you feel you need more zinc, you can always get that from supplements, not from meat!
As you say, your skin looks good, and you're vegetarian. Don't let anyone put doubts into your head. You have great first-hand proof: yourself!

There is zinc in vegetables, cereal, etc., but not a very significant amount. Maybe you're just genetically favored to have good skin and being a vegetarian certainly is an indicator that you take good care of yourself, so you probably drink plenty of fluids which is necessary to maintain healthy skin. Meanwhile, I don't eat much meat (although not vegetarian) and even though I don't suffer from acne, I do have what I describe as "weird little skin problems", just atopic dermatitis. A friend of mine told me that at the spa where she works, clients are encouraged to take a zinc supplement for skin problems. Your question could have more appropriately said, "Did you know that I'm a vegetarian with a great complexion?" :)

If your skin is fine, ignore the person. You can get zinc from non-meat sources. Vegetarians can have bad skin from living on fatty cheese...not lack of zinc. The best diet advice for vegetarians is at www.veganoutreach.org. Apparently it's hard for all Americans to get enough zinc. Eat your veggies, keep reading, but don't believe everything you read.

Don't listen to yahoo. I am a vegetarian also, and I think I have great skin. You can get enough zinc from lentils. Just take care of your skin Put sun screen on it etc. So in conclusion sometimes Yahoo makes up stuff.

Um. Yeah. I have never seen a vegetarian with bad skin. Most veggies have glowing skin.
I had horrible cystic acne when I was a meat eater. It almost cleared up when I went veg. Just a few now and then during hormone time.
When I turned 40 I developed eczema. When I discovered Nutritional Yeast the eczema went away.
One ounce of sesame seeds contains more zinc than one ounce of beef.

To be a healthy vegetarian, you need to know the certain foods which give you the essentials. As one of these people, you most likely know the foods that will keep you healthy. If you want to be certain, you could always visit a doctor and ask him to prescribe a vitamin that gives you the daily preferred dosage of the zinc. <3

ON the contrary, my dear! I have struggled with problematic skin for many years. Since I've become a vegetarian, my skin is more manageable. (Of course, I do take a zinc supplement!).

that's ridiculous, many things cause/reduce acne, most of which scientists do not understand yet. i have been a vegetarian for most of my life and i have fairly good skin, just the occasional mild breakout which is normal for teenagers. if anything i would think that people who eat meat would have worse skin because we know that people who eat a lot of fast food get worse acne, and meat is in a lot of fast foods. but i'm not a dermatologist, so i don't know for sure.

It does not mean that all vegetarians dont get enough zinc, but some people dont know how to properly turn vegetarian, they think it means living off salad or something thats why.
